3.

a)

r = distance of each mass in each hand from center = 0.6 m

m = mass of each mass in each hand = 2 kg

v = linear speed = 1.1 m/s

L = combined angular momentum of the masses = ?

Combined angular momentum of the masses is given as

L = 2 m v r

L = 2 (2) (1.1) (0.6)

L = 2.64 kg m²/s

b)

v' = linear speed when she pulls her arms = ?

r' = distance of each mass from center after she pulls her arms = 0.15 m

Using conservation of momentum , angular momentum remains same, hence

L = 2 m v' r'

2.64 = 2 (2) (0.15) v'

v' = 4.4 m/s

Robert, a stuntman, projects himself from a height of 50.0 meters in a horizontal direction. He safely lands at a horizontal dis
Olin [163]
To get this we need to know how long he was traveling. To know that we need to solve for the time it took for him to hit the ground. This is given by the vertical height he started at and the equation of motion for falling objects. The position function is
Y= -(9.8/2)t^2 + 50 = 0
t=3.19s
That's how long he's in the air. When he hits the ground he stops moving forward so this is also the amount of time he was moving at 100m/s horizontally. Now use speed distance relationship
X=vt
And solve for v
100m/3.19s = 31.35m/s

Suppose a 1 Gbps point-to-point link is being set up between the Earth and a new lunar colony. The distance from the moon to Ear
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

The time required to send the data from Earth to Moon will be 1.28s while for a two way communication, to send it back to the earth, it will take double time i.e. RTT = 2.56s

Explanation:

Distance between Earth and Moon = 385,000 km = 3.85 x 10⁸m

Speed of data travel = speed of light ≈ 3 x 10⁸m/s

As, v=d/t

t=d/v

t=\frac{3.85*10^{8} }{3*10^{8}}

t=1.28s

RTT = Double of single way time taken = 2x1.28

RTT=2.56s
