Acquired traits are traits acquired during your lifetime, like knowing how to ride a bicycle. You cannot pass them down to the next generation.

Only your inherited traits will enable you to survive predators, find enough food to live, etc. If you must learn a skill to survive, you probably won't live long enough to pass your genetic information to your offspring.
