Answer:

1.53 g

Explanation:

Given,

Initial speed = 30 m/s

Final speed = 0 m/s

Period of stretch, t = 2 s

average deceleration = ?

we know

a = \dfrac{v-u}{t}

a = \dfrac{0-30}{2}

a = -15 m/s²

Deceleration of the jumper = 15 m/s²

Deceleration in terms of g

= \dfrac{15}{9.81}

= 1.53\ g

Hence, the deceleration of the jumper is equal to 1.53 g

Explain why the driver's reaction time affects the thinking distance.
Lemur [1.5K]

Answer:

The thinking distance depends on the reaction time of the driver which could can affected by alcohol, distractions and tiredness. A faster speed increases both thinking  distance, increasing the total stopping distance.

A mountain climber, in the process of crossing between two cliffs by a rope, pauses to rest. She weighs 514 N. As the drawing sh
n200080 [17]

Answer:

Part a)

T_L = 155.4 N

Part b)

T_R = 379 N

Explanation:

As we know that mountain climber is at rest so net force on it must be zero

So we will have force balance in X direction

T_L cos65 = T_R cos80

T_L = 0.41 T_R

now we will have force balance in Y direction

mg = T_L sin65 + T_Rsin80

514 = 0.906T_L + 0.985T_R

Part a)

so from above equations we have

514 = 0.906T_L + 0.985(\frac{T_L}{0.41})

514 = 3.3 T_L

T_L = 155.4 N

Part b)

Now for tension in right string we will have

T_R = \frac{T_L}{0.41}

T_R = 379 N

Suppose a ball is dropped from shoulder height, falls, makes a perfectly elastic collision with the floor, and rebounds to shoul
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:Same magnitude

Explanation:

When ball is dropped from shoulder height h then velocity at the bottom is given by

v_1=\sqrt{2gh}

if it makes elastic collision then it will acquire the same velocity and riser up to the same height

If m is the mass of ball then impulse imparted is given by

J=m(v_2-v_1)

J=2m\sqrt{2gh}

Thus impulse imparted by gravity and Floor will have same magnitude of impulse but direction will be opposite to each other.
