In order to calculate for the amount of CaCl2 and water used we need to multiply the total amount mixture to the percentage of each component. Since we are given a two component mixture CaCl2-water with 40% CaCl2 by mass, therefore we have 60% water.

Amount of CaCl2 = 0.40*(370.9) =148.36 g of CaCl2
Amount of Water = 0.60*(370.9) = 222.54 g of Water

In the following combustion reaction of acetylene (C2H2), how many liters of CO2 will be produced if 60 liters of O2 is used, gi
Zielflug [23.3K]
The stoichiometry of the reaction is 5 mols of O2 produces 4 mols of CO2.

1 mol at STP is equivalent to 22.4 liters.

So, 5*22.4 liters of O2 produces 4*22.44 liters of CO2

Then 60 liters of O2 produces 60*4/5 = 48 liters of CO2

Winston predicts that certain people will be vaporized and that certain people will never be vaporized. Who? Why?
Margarita [4]

Answer:

Hi

One of the most famous works George Orwell shows us in 1984 a society that is controlled by the Superstate, in such a way that the inhabitants cannot do or say anything without The Big Brother finding out. If anyone tries to oppose this system, it is vaporized and in less than three days society forgets that there was a person who conspired or worse, that existed.

The detentions happened at night. He woke up startled because one hand shook one shoulder, a flashlight focused on him and a circle of grim faces appeared around the bed. In most cases there was no process. People disappeared and always during the night. The name of the individual in question disappeared from all the records, any reference to what he had done was erased from everywhere and his passage through life was completely annulled as if he had never existed.

(a) Explain why ammonia has a low boiling point
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Explanation: Ammonia has pretty strong intermolecular forces because it can form hydrogen bonds, however it can't form as many hydrogen bonds per molecule as water and so its boiling point and melting point are lower.

nadya68 [22]
If the half-life is 8.0 hours and there are 24 hours in a day, the radioisotope reaches its half-life 3 times.

Therefore, after a full day, there are 24 g of the sample left, and 168 g has decayed.
