Lecithins are glycerophospolipids (phosphoglycerides) containing choline, (CH3)3N CH2CH2OH. Draw a lecithin with stearic acid, C

H3(CH2)16COOH, at carbon 1 and oleic acid, CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH, at carbon 2.

Please see the attached photo for the answer. Basically, you break the double bond between the Carbons and add Hydrogens to the carbons to fulfill the octet.

Answer is in Word document below.

On the drawing of the lecithin:

1) alcohol glycerol is purple colored.

2) choline and phosphate group are orange colored.

3) stearic acid (saturated fatty acid) is red colored.

4) oleic acid (monounsaturated fatty acid) is green colored.

Lecithin is a yellow brownish fatty substance in animal and plant tissues.

What is the volume of a substance that has a density of 13.6 g/cm and a mass of 3.0 g?
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf v \approx  0.22 \ cm^3}}

Explanation:

We are asked to find the volume of a substance.

We are given the density and the mass. The density of a substance is its mass per unit volume. The formula for calculating density is:

\rho= \frac{m}{v}

We know the density of the substance is 13.6 grams per cubic centimeter and the mass is 3.0 grams.

  • ρ= 13.6 g/cm³
  • m= 3.0 g

Substitute these values into the formula.

13.6 \ g/cm^3= \frac{3.0 \ g }{v}

We are solving for the volume, so we must isolate the variable v. First, cross multiply. Multiply the first numerator by the second denominator, then multiply the first denominator by the second numerator.

\frac{13.6 \ g/cm^3}{1}= \frac{3.0 \ g }{v}

13.6 \ g/cm^3 *v =3.0 \ g *1

Multiply on the right side of the equation.

13.6 \ g/cm^3 *v =3.0 \ g

The variable is being multiplied by 13.6 grams per cubic centimeters. The inverse operation of multiplication is division, so we divide both sides of the equation by 13.6 g/cm².

\frac {13.6 \ g/cm^3 *v}{13.6 \ g/cm^3} =\frac{3.0 \ g }{13.6 \ g/cm^3}

v =\frac{3.0 \ g }{13.6 \ g/cm^3}

The units of grams cancel.

v =\frac{3.0  }{13.6 \ cm^3}

v= 0.2205882353 \ cm^3

The original measurement of density has 3 significant figures and the measurement of mass has 2. Our answer must have the least number of sig figs, which is 2. For the number we found, that is the hundredth place. The 0 in the thousandth place tells us to leave the 2 in the hundredth place.

v \approx 0.22 \ cm^3

The volume of the substance is approximately <u>0.22 cubic centimeters.</u>

How does the acid level in a lake affect how many fish live there?
nikklg [1K]

If the level of acid in a lake increased, then the number of fish that live there will be decreased because highly acidic lakes will not have enough food for the fish to survive. Acidic level increases , then availability of food for fish decreases as some food will be contaminated so if the fish won't got enough food for their survival then their number of fish decreases.

A gaseous mixture containing 1.5 mol ar and 3.5 mol co2 has a total pressure of 8.6 atm. What is the partial pressure of co2?
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

The partial pressure of CO2 is 6,02 atm

Explanation:

This is the formula por partial pressure

\frac{Gas pressure}{Total pressure} \\ = \frac{Gas moles}{Total moles} \\

Total moles ---> 1,5 + 3,5 = 5 moles

Partial pressure CO2 / 8,6 atm = 3,5 moles CO2 / 5 moles (CO2 + Ar)

Partial pressure CO2 = (3,5 moles CO2 / 5 moles) . 8,6 atm = 6,02 atm
