Answer :  The empirical formula of manganese fluoride is Mn_1F_2.

Solution :  Given,

If percentage are given then we are taking total mass is 100 grams.

So, the mass of each element is equal to the percentage given.

Mass of Mn = 59.1 g

Mass of F = 40.9 g

Molar mass of Mn = 54.94 g/mole

Molar mass of F = 18.99 g/mole

Step 1 : convert given masses into moles.

Moles of Mn = \frac{\text{ given mass of Mn}}{\text{ molar mass of Mn}}\times 1\text{ mole of Mn} = \frac{59.1g}{54.94g/mole}\times 1\text{ mole of Mn} = 1.076 moles

Moles of F = \frac{\text{ given mass of F}}{\text{ molar mass of F}}\times 1\text{ mole of F} = \frac{40.9g}{18.99g/mole}\times 1\text{ mole of F} = 2.154 moles

Step 2 : For the mole ratio, divide each value of moles by the smallest number of moles calculated.

For Mn = 1.076/1.076 = 1

For F = 2.154/1.076 ≈ 2

Mn : F = 1 : 2

The mole ratio of the element is represented by subscripts in empirical formula.

Therefore, the Empirical formula = Mn_1F_2

Hey there!:

Given % of Mn=59.1% means 59.1 g of Mn present in 100 g of manganese fluoride.

Molar mass of Mn= 54.938 g/mol

Moles of Mn = mass / molar mass

59.1 /54.938 => 1.07 ≈ 1 mol.

and % of F=40.9% means 40.9 g of of F present in 100 g of manganese fluoride.

Molar mass of F=18.998 g/mol

Moles of F :

40.9 / 18.999 => 2.15 mol ≈ 2 mol.

The mole ratio between Mn:F=  1 : 2

Therefore the empirical formula of manganese fluoride:

=> MnF2=Mn1F2

Hope that helps!

A scientist observes that the electrical resistance of a superconducting material drops to zero when the material is cooled to v
k0ka [10]

Answer:

The scientist is observing an intensive property of a superconductor.

Explanation:

An intensive property is a bulk property of matter. This means that an intensive property does not depend on the amount of substance present in the material under study. Typical examples of intensive properties include; conductivity, resistivity, density, hardness, etc.

An extensive property is a property that depends on the amount of substance present in a sample. Extensive properties depend on the quantity of matter present in the sample under study. Examples of extensive properties include, mass and volume.

Resistance of a superconducting material has nothing to do with the amount of the material present hence it is an intensive property of the superconductor.

katrin [286]
Answer:
            <span>A reaction progress curve has three peaks and two valleys between the peaks. This curve describes a reaction mechanism that involves <u>three elementary reactions</u>.

Explanation:
                   I have drawn the progress curve with three peaks and two valleys. In fact the peaks shows higher energy and valleys show lower energies. So, Let suppose we react A and B. This reaction between A and B results in the formation of C. In this reaction the energies of A and B are less, and during the progress of reaction they cross a transition state of higher energy and forms product C with lower energy which is present at lower valley. This was first reaction. Other two reactions will be followed by conversion of C to D and conversion of D into E.</span>

Suppose the reaction between nitrogen and hydrogen was run according to the amounts presented in Part A, and the temperature and
andrew11 [14]

Explanation:

Assuming that moles of nitrogen present are 0.227 and moles of hydrogen are 0.681. And, initially there are 0.908 moles of gas particles.

This means that, for N_{2}(g) + 3H_{2}(g) \rightarrow 2NH_{3}

 moles of N_{2} + moles of H_{2} = 0.908 mol

Since, 2 moles of N_{2} = 2 \times 0.227 = 0.454 mol

As it is known that the ideal gas equation  is PV = nRT

And, as the temperature and volume were kept constant, so we can write

        \frac{P(_in)}{n_(in)} = \frac{P_(final)}{n_(final)}

          \frac{10.4}{0.908} = \frac{P_(final)}{0.454&#10;}

       P_(final) = 10.4 \times \frac{0.454}{0.908}

                            = 5.2 atm

Therefore, we can conclude that the expected pressure after the reaction was completed is 5.2 atm.
