a = 0.4m/s²

When a mass is added to the cart it is expected that the acceleration of the cart to reduce.

From newton law

F = ma

a = F/m

So, acceleration is inversely proportional to the mass, so as the mass increases the acceleration reduces.

In this question we are not given the information about the mass added but from the option given, we are going to chose any option that is less than the original acceleration of the cart before the mass was added (0.4m/s²). So, we are going to choose 0.27m/s².

We cannot chose 0m/s², the only time the acceleration will be zero is when the mass added is infinite (∞).

Then, a = F/∞ = 0m/s². So, since the mass added is finite. then, it cannot be zero.
