What pressure, in atm, is exerted by 2.50 L of gas containing 1.35 mol at 320 K?
salantis [7]

Answer:

Option A = 14.19 atm

Explanation:

Given data:

Volume of gas = 2.50 L

Number of moles of gas = 1.35 mol

Temperature of gas = 320 K

Pressure of gas = ?

Solution:

The given problem will be solve by using general gas equation,

PV = nRT

P= Pressure

V = volume

n = number of moles

R = general gas constant = 0.0821 atm.L/ mol.K

T = temperature in kelvin

Now we will put the values in formula.

P × 2.50 L = 1.35 mol × 0.0821 atm.L/ mol.K× 320

P = 35.467 atm.L/ 2.50 L

P = 14.19 atm

Thus, option A is correct.

The solubility of kL is 50g in 100 g h2o at 20 celcius. If 110 grams of of kL are added to 200 grams of h2o. What is happens ?
tia_tia [17]

Answer:

a saturated solution will form.

Explanation:

All solutions have a definite capacity of dissolving solute in it.

Unsaturated solutions are the solutions which contain less amount of solute than the maximum capacity of dissolving the solute. If more amount of solute is added in such a way a point is reached where addition of more solute cannot be dissolved. The solution is known as saturated solution.

Amount dissolved > Maximum solubility limit, the solution is saturated.

Amount dissolved < Maximum solubility limit, the solution is unsaturated.

If the amount of the salt exceeds the solubility limit, then the solution is saturated solution. If it is less than the limit given, then it is unsaturated solution.

Given,

50 g of KI is added to 100 g of water at 20 °C.

It means:

100 g of water can dissolve maximum of 50 g of KCl.

Also,

1 g of water can dissolve maximum of 0.5 g of KCl.

To check for 200 g of water:

200 g of water can dissolve maximum of (0.5)*200 g of KCl.

Maximum amount of KCl that can be dissolved = 100 g

Actual amount dissolved = 110 g

Since,

Amount dissolved > Maximum solubility limit

110 g > 100 g

According to definition, the solution is saturated.

Hence, a saturated solution will form.

A 50.51g sample of a compound made from phosphorus and chlorine is decomposed. Analysis of the products showed that 11.39 g of p
Alchen [17]

Ans: P = 22.5% and Cl = 77.5%

Given:

Total Mass of sample containing P and Cl = 50.51 g

Mass of P produced = 11.39 g

To determine:

Mass % of P and Cl

Explanation:

Mass % of a given element in a total mass is generally expressed as:

Mass % of element = [mass of element/total mass]*100

Here,

Total mass = mass of P + mass of Cl

mass of Cl = Total - mass of P = 50.51-11.39 = 39.12 g

% P = [11.39/50.51]*100 = 22.5%

%Cl = [39.12/50.51]*100 = 77.5%
