consider the forward direction as positive and backward direction as negative. hence displacement in froward direction will be taken as positive and displacement in backward direction will be taken as negative.

\underset{d_{1}}{\rightarrow}\\ = displacement in forward direction = 10 meters

\underset{d_{2}}{\rightarrow}\\ = displacement in backward direction = - 5  meters

\underset{d_{net}}{\rightarrow}\\ = net displacement

net displacement is given as

\underset{d_{net}}{\rightarrow}\\ = \underset{d_{1}}{\rightarrow}\\ + \underset{d_{2}}{\rightarrow}\\

\underset{d_{net}}{\rightarrow}\\ = 10 + (- 5)

\underset{d_{net}}{\rightarrow}\\ =  5 meters

Since net displacement is positive , and forward is positive direction of motion.

hence the displacement is 5 meters in forward direction.

b)

d₁ = distance traveled in forward direction = 10 meters

d₂ = distance traveled in backward direction = 5 meters

D = total distance traveled

total distance traveled is given as

D = d₁ + d₂

D = 10 + 5

D = 15 meters

A car slows from 27 m/s to 5 m/s with a constant acceleration for 6.87 s. What is the car’s acceleration?
Kobotan [32]

In this case, the movement is uniformly delayed (the final rapidity is less than the initial rapidity), therefore, the value of the acceleration will be negative.

1. The following equation is used:

a = (Vf-Vo)/ t

a: acceleration (m/s2)

Vf: final rapidity (m/s)

Vo: initial rapidity (m/s)

t: time (s)

2. Substituting the values in the equation:

a = (5 m/s- 27 m/s)/6.87 s

3. The car's acceleration is:

a= -3.20 m/ s<span>^2</span>

At what speed, as a fraction of c , is a particle's total energy twice its rest energy
WINSTONCH [101]
The rest energy of a particle is
E_0=m_0 c^2
where m_0 is the rest mass of the particle and c is the speed of light.

The total energy of a relativistic particle is
E=mc^2 =  \frac{m_0 c^2}{ \sqrt{1- \frac{v^2}{c^2} } }
where v is the speed of the particle.

We want the total energy of the particle to be twice its rest energy, so that
E=2E_0
which means:
\frac{m_0c^2}{ \sqrt{1- \frac{v^2}{c^2} } }=2m_0 c^2
\frac{1}{ \sqrt{1- \frac{v^2}{c^2} } }=2
From which we find the ratio between the speed of the particle v and the speed of light c:
\frac{v}{c}=  \sqrt{1- (\frac{1}{2})^2 }  =0.87
So, the particle should travel at 0.87c in order to have its total energy equal to twice its rest energy.

Which type of nuclear reaction involves combining light elements into a heavier element, with a resultant release of great amoun
torisob [31]

Answer: Fusion

Explanation:

Combustion is a chemical reaction in which hydrocarbons are burnt in the presence of oxygen to give carbon dioxide and water.

Nuclear fusion is a process which involves the conversion of two small nuclei to form a heavy nuclei along with release of energy.

_{94}^{239}\textrm{Pu}+_2^4\textrm{He}\rightarrow _{96}^{242}\textrm{Cm}+_0^\textrm{n}

Nuclear fission is a process which involves the conversion of a heavier nuclei into two or more small and stable nuclei along with the release of energy.

_{92}^{235}\textrm{U}+_0^1\textrm{n}\rightarrow _{36}^{91}\textrm{Kr}+_{56}^{142}\textrm{Ba}+_{0}^{1}\textrm{n}

Help me I do not understand
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

170N

Explanation:

First add 530N to 150N and you get 680N, then add 400N to 450N and get 850N. So subtract 850N by 680N and you get 170N
