Answer:

47.2 g

Explanation:

Data given:

mass of Sodium oxide (Na₂O) = 25 grams

mass of potassium chloride (KCl) = excess

amount of sodium chloride (NaCl) = ?

Solution:

First we look for reaction of sodium oxide with potassium chloride.

                    Na₂O + 2 KCl -----------> 2 NaCl + K₂O

As we know that potassium chloride is in excess amount and sodium oxide is 25 g so it means sodium oxide is a limiting reactant and amount of sodium chloride depends on the amount of sodium oxide.

So, now we will look for mole mole ration of Na₂O to NaCl.

                    Na₂O + 2 KCl -----------> 2 NaCl + K₂O

                    1 mol                              2 mol

from above equation we come to know that 1 mole of Na₂O gives 2 moles of NaCl.

Now convert moles to mass

As we Know

Molar mass of Na₂O = 2(23) + 16 = 62 g/mol

Molar mass of NaCl = 23 + 35.5 = 58.5 g/mol

So

                  Na₂O              +   2 KCl    ----------->      2 NaCl          +      K₂O

             1 mol (62 g/mol)                                   2 mol (58.5 g/mol)

                  62 g                                                          117 g

So, it means that 62 g of Na₂O produce 117 g of NaCl then how many grams of NaCl will be produce by 25 g of Na₂O

Apply unity formula

                           62 g of Na₂O ≅ 117 g of NaCl

                           25 g of Na₂O ≅ X g of NaCl

Do cross multiplication

                          X g of NaCl = 117 g x 25 g / 62 g

                          X g of NaCl = 47.2 g

So,

25 g of Na₂O gives 47.2 grams of NaCl.

A 250-mL aqueous solution contains 1.56 10–5 g of methanol and has a density of 1.03 g/mL. What is the concentration in ppm?
Hoochie [10]
First, calculate for the mass of the aqueous solution by multiplying the given volume (in mL) by the density (in g/mL). In mathematical equation, that is,

        m = ρV

where m is mass, ρ is density, and V is volume. Substituting the known values,

      m = (1.03 g/mL)(250 mL) = 257.5 g

To get the concentration in ppm, divide the given mass of methanol by the mass of the solution. Note that the parts-per million (ppm) is equal to mass of solute in milligram(mg) divided by the mass of solution in kilogram (kg)

      C (in ppm) = (1.56 x 10^-6 g)(1000 mg/1 g)   / (257.5 g)(1 kg/1000 g)

Simplifying,
     C (in ppm) = (1.56 x 10^-3 mg)/ 0.2575 kg

     C (in ppm) = 0.00606 ppm

Naddika [18.5K]

Answer: It decreases because nonvolatile aluminum and chloride ions now occupy some of the volume of the system.

Explanation:

Vapor pressure of a liquid  is defined as the pressure exerted by the vapors  in equilibrium with the liquid/solution at a particular temperature.

So, when a non-volatile solute is added to a solvent then its molecules align at the surface of liquid. As a result, less number of solvent molecules will escape from the solution. Thus, there will be decrease in vapors and thus the vapor pressure decrease.

The relative lowering of vapor pressure is directly proportional to the amount of dissolved solute.

Once you have collected 40 mL of distillate, you should ________. turn off your hot plate lower your lab jack carelessly use you
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Answer:

Once you have collected 40 mL of distillate, you should ________.

turn off the hot plate and carefully lower the lab jack, making sure that no cords or hoses get caught in it.

Explanation:

Distillate is the product obtained from the process of distillation.  Distillation is the separation of components of a liquid mixture based on different boiling points. Distillation can be used to purify alcohol, for desalination, refining of crude oil, and for obtaining liquefied gases.  A lab jack is an essential tool that supports and lifts hotplates, glassware, baths, and other small lab equipment requiring stable surfaces at a specific height.
