The latent heat of fusion of alcohol is 50 kcal/kg and its melting point is -54oC. It has a specific heat of 0.60 in its liquid

state. Calculate the energy needed to melt 2.0 kg of solid alcohol at -54o and raise it to a temperature of -4°C.

Answer:

C

Explanation:

To melt the alcohol

Heat needed = M . L  = 2 . 25  = 50 kcal

To warm up the alcohol

Heat needed = M . sp. ht. . ∆t   = 2 . 0.6 . 100  = 120 kcal

Total heat needed = 170 kcal

Assuming that 0.6 kcal/ kg / ˚C  is the specific heat and that the answer is wanted in kcal ( a rather odd unit to be in use here.)

A hair dryer uses 1200 watts of power. Current flow through
KonstantinChe [14]
The answer is: 120V

Power is the rate at which energy is supplied/transformed in time:
we can write:

V ddp in Volts represents Energy/Charge i.e. energy carried by each coulomb;

I current in Amperes represents Charge/time or coulombs passing each seconds.

combining them we have:

Power = energy/time = V • 1

or

1200 = V ⋅ 10
V = 1200/10 = 120V

How is force useful as well as harmful.<br>Comment with the statement.
vladimir1956 [14]

No, we can't say force is useful or harmful. All else being equal, force is either not harmful or useful depending on the body that is applying it and where it is applying it.

Given how it affects motion, force is a crucial idea. It is a relationship that, in the absence of an opposing force, modifies an object's motion. However, a push or a pull that any object feels is the simplest definition of force. Due to the fact that force is a vector quantity, it possesses both a magnitude and a direction.

How force is useful

A body at rest can move with enough force.A body in motion may be slowed down or stopped by it.It has the power to quicken the pace of an object in motion.Along with its shape and size, it can also alter the direction of a moving body.

How force is harmful

  • Force has the power to alter an object's state of motion.
  • Moving objects can shift direction due to force.
  • Moving things' speeds can be increased by force.
  • Moving items can become slower due to force.
  • Force has the power to alter an object's shape.

The mass of a moving object increases, but its speed stays the same. What happens to the kinetic energy of the object as a resul
ozzi
The correct answer is
B It increases.

In fact, the kinetic energy of a moving object is given by
K= \frac{1}{2}mv^2
where m is the mass of the object and v is its speed. We see that the kinetic energy is proportional to the mass and proportional to the square of the speed: in this problem, the speed of the object remains the same, while its mass increases, therefore the kinetic energy will increase as well.
