Newton's 3rd law of motion states that "every action has an equal and opposite reaction." A golf ball was hit with force of 200

Let’s say you’re hitting the golf ball with a golf club. Therefore, using the 3rd law to explain it... the golf ball will hit the club back. The reason why the ball moves, is because it can only sustain a certain amount of force.

A 878-kg (1940 lb) dragster, starting from rest, attains a speed of 25.9 m/s (57.9 mph) in 0.62 s. (a) Find the average accelera
salantis [7]

Answer:

41.8m/s^2

Explanation:

Since the dragster starts from rest, initial velocity (u) = 0m/s, final velocity (v) = 25.9m/s, time (t) = 0.62s

From the equations of motion, v = u + at

a = (v - u)/t = (25.9 - 0)/0.62 = 25.9/0.62 = 41.8m/s^2

A mass M is attached to an ideal massless spring. When this system is set in motion with amplitude A, it has a period T. What is
cricket20 [7]

Answer:

<em>The period of the motion will still be equal to T.</em>

<em></em>

Explanation:

for a system with mass = M

attached to a massless spring.

If the system is set in motion with an amplitude (distance from equilibrium position) A

and has period T

The equation for the period T is given as

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{M}{k} }

where k is the spring constant

If the amplitude is doubled, the distance from equilibrium position to the displacement is doubled.

Increasing the amplitude also increases the restoring force. An increase in the restoring force means the mass is now accelerated to cover more distance in the same period, so the restoring force cancels the effect of the increase in amplitude. Hence, <em>increasing the amplitude has no effect on the period of the mass and spring system.</em>

To calculate the change in kinetic energy, you must know the force as a function of _______. The work done by the force causes t
QveST [7]

Answer:

(c) position

Explanation:

From the work-energy theorem, the workdone by a force on a body causes a change in kinetic energy of the body.

But, remember that the work done (W) by a force (F) on a body is the product of the force and the distance d, moved by the body caused by the force. i.e

W = F x d

This distance is a measure of the position of the body at a given instance.

Therefore, the work done is given by the force as a function of distance (or position).
