In electromagnetic waves energy is transferred through vibrations of electric and magnetic fields. In sound waves energy is transferred through vibration of air particles or particles of a solid through which the sound travels. In water waves energy is transferred through the vibration of the water particles.

Hoping this helps.

The work function for magnesium is 3.70 ev. what is its cutoff frequency?
alexandr402 [8]

The cutoff frequency for magnesium is 8.93 x 10¹⁴ Hz.

<h3>What is cutoff frequency?</h3>

The work function is related to the frequency as

W0 = h x fo

where, fo = cutoff frequency and h is the Planck's constant

Given is the work function for magnesium is  3.70 eV.

fo = 3.7 x 1.6 x 10⁻¹⁹ / 6.626 x 10⁻³⁴

fo = 8.93 x 10¹⁴ Hz.

Thus, the cut off frequency is 8.93 x 10¹⁴ Hz.

Learn more about cutoff frequency.

Light is incident along the normal to face AB of a glass prism of refractive index 1.54. Find αmax, the largest value the angle
marusya05 [52]

To solve this problem it is necessary to use the concepts related to Snell's law.

Snell's law establishes that reflection is subject to

n_1sin\theta_1 = n_2sin\theta_2

Where,

\theta = Angle between the normal surface at the point of contact

n = Indices of refraction for corresponding media

The total internal reflection would then be given by

n_1 sin\theta_1 = n_2sin\theta_2

(1.54) sin\theta_1 = (1.33)sin(90)

sin\theta_1 = \frac{1.33}{1.54}

\theta = sin^{-1}(\frac{1.33}{1.54})

\theta = 59.72\°

Therefore the \alpha_{max} would be equal to

\alpha = 90\°-\theta

\alpha = 90-59.72

\alpha = 30.27\°

Therefore the largest value of the angle α is 30.27°

250 mL 0.1 M HCl solution is mixed with 250 mL
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

The concentration of OH⁻ in the mixture is 0.05 M

Explanation:

The reaction of neutralization between HCl and NaOH is the following:

H⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq) ⇄  H₂O(l)

The number of moles of HCl is:

n_{HCl} = C*V = 0.1 mol/L*0.250L = 0.025 moles

Similarly, the number of moles of NaOH is:

n_{NaOH} = C*V = 0.2 mol/L*0.250L = 0.05 moles

Now, from the reaction of HCl and NaOH we have the following number of moles of NaOH remaining:

n_{NaOH} = 0.05 moles - 0.025 moles = 0.025 moles

Finally, the concentration of OH⁻ in the mixture is:

C =\frac{n_{NaOH}}{V_{T}}=\frac{0.025 moles}{0.250*2 L} = 0.05 moles/L

Therefore, the concentration of OH⁻ in the mixture is 0.05 M.

I hope it helps you!
