Answer:

The Dipole moment is 6.77 Debyes.

Explanation:

Given bond length of HBr molecule = 1.41 A°,

We also know charges on H and Br(+1 and -1 respectively)

Charge on H  =  (+1) \times (absolute charge of electron);

Charge on Br  =  (-1) \times (absolute charge of electron);

Since absolute charge on electron = 1.602\times 10^{-19};

Therefore charge on H = 1.602\times 10^{-19} Coulomb;

charge on Br = -1.602\times10^{-19}

We know Dipole Moment = Charge \times Distance;

Here,

Distance = Bond Length = 1.41 A° = 1.41 \times 10^{-10};

and charge on atom =  1.602\times 10^{-19} Coulomb;

Therefore,

Dipole Moment =  Distance \times Charge

Dipole Moment =  1.41\times10^{-10} \times1.602\times10^{-19};

Dipole Moment =  2.25882\times10^{-29} SI units.

The conversion factor of for SI units to Debye is 2.9989 \times 10^{29}

Therefore,

Dipole Moment = 2.25882 \times 10^{-29}\times 2.9985\times10^{29}

Dipole Moment = 6.77 Debye.

Which of the following is NOT true regarding Rutherford's Gold Foil experiment?
erastova [34]

Answer:

The area around the nucleus must be of low mass.

Explanation:

Rutherford`s experiment showed that there are some positive charges in the center of the atoms, and because they are all together, they will give a great mass to the atom.

It was quite different from Thomson`s experiment, in which it was thought that the negative charges were mixed with the positive charges, around the atom (like a Pudding Model). In Rutherford`s experiment, because the direction of beta particles, it was the prediction of the positive nucleus.

Hope this info is useful.

23. Using the periodic table, what is the oxidation number of:
Aloiza [94]

Answer:

a. +2

b. +3

c. -1

Explanation:

The typical oxidation states can be determined from the periodic table based on the number of valence electrons an atom has.

a. Calcium belongs to group 2A, meaning it has 2 valence electrons and, therefore, would have an oxidation state of +2 in compounds.

b. Aluminum is in group 3A, meaning it has 3 valence electrons and would have an oxidation state of +3 in compounds when the 3 electrons are lost.

c. Fluorine would become fluorine if it gained 1 additional electron to achieve an octet, so its oxidation state would be -1.

Is the sky a solid liquid or gas
s2008m [1.1K]
Gas.
The sky is not solid, not liquid but of gas. It is also called the atmosphere, one of the important spheres on earth that influences the climate –temperature, humidity, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, and the biotic community as a whole. The atmosphere or the sky is composed of many layers and is responsible to protecting the living organisms of the earth against the deadly ultraviolet rays and other strong radiation coming from the sun.

julia-pushkina [17]
Answer : Option C) Categoric.

Explanation : According to the question the researcher is studying the science of attractiveness and the test is conducted by the volunteers by showing the images of different people, so here  we can judge that the study is gender based and has to include male or female. Hence, it can be called as categoric variable.
