The distance covered in one orbit is equal to the circumference of earth.

Given that radius of earth is 3959 miles.

Circumference of earth= 2πr = 2*3.14*3959 = 24875.13 miles

Speed is 26,000 miles per hour.

Since, Velocity= Distance/Time

Time= Distance/Velocity = 24875.13/26000

Time = 0.9567 hours

Therefore,

Average hour per orbit is 0.957 approximately.

A heat engine operates with 70.0 kcal of heat supplied and exhausts 30.0 kcal of heat. How much work did the engine do?
gladu [14]

The work done by the heat engine is 40 kCal.

The given parameters;

  • input heat of the engine, Q₁ = 70 kCal
  • output heat of the engine, Q₂ = 30 kCal

To find:

  • the work done by the heat engine

The work done by the heat engine is the change in the heat energy of the engine;

W = Q₂ - Q₁

Substitute the given parameters and solve work done (W)

W = 70 kCal - 30 kal

W = 40 kCal

Thus, the work done by the heat engine is 40 kCal.

A nail gets magnetized when kept close to a magnet
avanturin [10]
In unmagnetized materials the domains are randomly aligned in different directions and cancel each other out. In a magnet all the domains are oriented in the same direction. In the case of a nail, the domains can be aligned in the same direction causing the nail to become magnetic.
