For instance, if sugar and water are the mixtures then resulting compound will be sweet as sugar tastes sweet and water has no taste. Similarly, salt and water mixture tastes salty as to keep the properties of salt.

The mixing of two or more entities is called as a mixture only when there is no chemical reaction taking place between the two entities.

The taste of a mixture depends on the quantity of the compounds mixed in the formation of the mixture. If we consider the example of the mixture of glucose and water, the sweetness of the mixture depends on the amount of glucose added to the water. The more the amount of glucose, more will be the sweetness of the solution.

In the same manner, in the solution of salt and water, the taste of the mixture depends on the amount of salt added to the water.  

<u>Therefore, it can be stated that the taste of the mixture is dependent on the amount of the compound used in the formation of the mixture. </u>
