Q: Two charges q1 and q2, that are distance d apart , repel each other with a force of 6.40 N. what would be the force between two charges q1'=2q1 and q2'=3q2 that that are distance d apart?

Answer:

The force = 38.4 N

Explanation:

From coulombs law,

F = kq₁q₂/r² ............................ Equation 1

Where F = Force of attraction or repulsion between the charges, q₁ and q₂ = first and second charge respectively, r = distance between the charges, k = constant of proportionality.

When, F = 6.4 N, r = d m.

6.4 = kq₁q₂/d²......................... Equation 1

When q₁' = 2q₁, q₂' = 3q₂, r = d cm

F = k(2q₁)(3q₂)/d²

F = 6kq₁q₂/d².......................... Equation 2

Dividing Equation 1 by equation 2

6.4/F = kq₁q₂/d²/(6kq₁q₂/d²)

6.4/F = 1/6

F = 6.4×6

F = 38.4 N.

Thus the force = 38.4 N

If the current in a wire increases from 5 A to 10 A, what happens to its magnetic field? If the distance of a charged particle f
Anna007 [38]

(1) Doubling of the current through the wire will result in doubling of its magnetic  field.

The magnetic field around a wire is a function of the current I and radial distance r

B = \frac{\mu\cdot I }{2\pi r}

(with mu denoting the magnetic permeability of the medium). So, B is directly proportional to I. The field magnitude will double with the doubled current from 5A to 10A

(2) Using the same formula as in (1), we can see that the magnetic field is inversely proportional to the radial distance from the wire. So, a particle at 20cm will experience half the magnitude compared to a particle at 10cm.

(3) Answer

If a particle with a charge q  moves through a magnetic field B with velocity v, it will be acted on by the magnetic force

F_m = B\cdot v\cdot q

So, a particle with charge -2uC will experience a magnetic force of same magnitude but opposite direction (and perpendicular to B) as compared to a particle with a charge of 2uC

Suppose you know only the position of an object at instants A and B. Is more than one displacement possible? Is more than one av
Burka [1]
<span>Is more than one displacement possible?
No, displacement only considers the initial and final position.
Is more than one average velocity possible?
No, the average velocity is defined as displacement per time and since there is only one displacement possible, there is only one average velocity possible as well.
Is more than one average speed possible?
Yes, the average speed considers the total distance traveled and this distance may not be the same as the total displacement.

Why is evidence of meteorite impact rare on earth, despite the fact that meteoroids often pass into earth's atmosphere?
DENIUS [597]
The fact is your rooftop is covered with dust particles from meteorites. Outerspace is full of debris. Every day, thousands of meteorites invade our home but thanks to atmosphere for keeping us safe from them :D
When these meteorites enter our atmosphere, they experience resistance to the particles present in our atmosphere. As a result they catch fire(and eventually melts) and lose all their energy before falling on the surface. This happens with very small sized meteorites but when bigger ones enter, they surely hit the surface because they are difficult to melt.
Thanks to Jupiter for saving us from asteroids. Bigger ones rarely enters our atmosphere because of Jupiter's gravitational pull. It lures all the debris towards itself (:

You hold glider A of mass 0.125 kg and glider B of mass 0.375 kg at rest on an air track with a compressed spring of negligible
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

0.2 m/s

Explanation:

m_A = Mass of glider A= 0.125 kg

m_B = Mass of glider B = 0.375 kg

u_A = Initial Velocity of glider A = 0 m/s

u_B = Initial Velocity of glider B = 0 m/s

v_A = Final Velocity of glider A = 0.6 m/s

v_B = Final Velocity of glider B

As linear momentum is conserved

m_{A}u_{A}+m_{B}u_{B}=m_{A}v_{A}+m_{B}v_{B}\\\Rightarrow v_B=\frac{m_{A}u_{A}+m_{B}u_{B}-m_{A}v_{A}}{m_{B}}\\\Rightarrow v_b=\frac{0+0-0.125\times 0.6}{0.375}\\\Rightarrow v_b=-0.2\ m/s

Magnitude of the glider B at this time is 0.2 m/s
