Two forces are acting on a 2.0 kg object that moves with acceleration 6.0 m/s2 in the positive y-direction. If one of the forces
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

12N

Explanation:

We are given that one of the forces are acting only in the horizontal x-direction. As a force must be applied on an object of mass in order to cause acceleration, the 6.0ms^-2 acceleration is due to the non-horizontal force acting on the 2.0kg object.

Using Newton's Second Law of motion; we know that for a constant mass, force is equal to mass times acceleration, F=ma.

Assuming the other force is acting only in the vertical direction (question doesn't specify, thus we are finding the minimum force to cause this acceleration):

F= 2.0kg * 6.0ms^-2

F=12.0 kgms^-2

F=12 N

A kayaker moves 22 meters northward, then 18 meters southward , and finally 24 meters northward what is the distance and magnitu
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Distance = 64 metres

Displacement = 28 metres

Direction = northward

Explanation:

Given that a  kayaker moves 22 meters northward, then 18 meters southward , and finally 24 meters northward

Distance covered is only about the magnitude of the length covered.

Distance = 22 + 18 + 24 = 64 metres

The direction will be considered when calculating the displacement

Let northward be positive and southward be negative

Displacement = 22 - 18 + 24 = 28 metres

Since the displacement is positive, the direction of the motion is northward.

Sound with a frequency of 1250 Hz leaves a room through a doorway with a width of 1.05 m.At what minimum angle relative to the c
kiruha [24]

Answer:

15.19°, 31.61°, 51.84°

Explanation:

We need to fin the angle for m=1,2,3

We know that the expression for wavelenght is,

\lambda = \frac{c}{f}

Substituting,

\lambda = \frac{344}{1250}

\lambda = 0.2752m

Once we have the wavelenght we can find the angle by the equation of the single slit difraction,

sin\theta = \frac{m \lambda}{W}

Where,

W is the width

m is the integer

\lambda the wavelenght

Re-arrange the expression,

\theta = sin^{-1} \frac{m\lambda}{W}

For m=1,

\theta = sin^{-1} \frac{1 (0.2752)}{1.05}= 15.19\°

For m=2,

\theta = sin^{-1} \frac{2 (0.2752)}{1.05}= 31.61\°

For m=3,

\theta = sin^{-1} \frac{3 (0.2752)}{1.05}= 51.84\°

<em>The angle of diffraction is directly proportional to the size of the wavelength.</em>

A box slides down a 30.0° ramp with an acceleration of 1.20 m/s^2. Determine the coefficient of kinetic friction between the box
Zielflug [23.3K]

m = mass of the box

N = normal force on the box

f = kinetic frictional force on the box

a = acceleration of the box

μ = coefficient of kinetic friction

perpendicular to incline , force equation is given as

N = mg Cos30                                         eq-1

kinetic frictional force is given as

f = μ N

using eq-1

f = μ mg Cos30

parallel to incline , force equation is given as

mg Sin30 - f = ma

mg Sin30 - μ mg Cos30  = ma

"m" cancel out

a = g Sin30 - μ g Cos30

inserting the values

1.20 = (9.8) Sin30 - (9.8) Cos30 μ

μ = 0.44
