Jaclyn plays singles for South's varsity tennis team. During the match against North, Jaclyn won the sudden death tiebreaker poi

nt with a cross-court passing shot. The 57.5-gram ball hit her racket with a northward velocity of 26.7 m/s. Upon impact with her 331-gram racket, the ball rebounded in the exact opposite direction (and along the same general trajectory) with a speed of 29.5 m/s.
A. Determine the pre-collision momentum of the ball.
B. Determine the post-collision momentum of the ball.
C. Determine the momentum change of the ball.
D. Determine the velocity change of the racket

Answer

given,

mass of ball, m = 57.5 g = 0.0575 kg

velocity of ball northward,v = 26.7 m/s

mass of racket, M = 331 g = 0.331 Kg

velocity of the ball after collision,v' = 29.5 m/s

a) momentum of ball before collision

   P₁ = m v

   P₁ = 0.0575 x 26.7

   P₁ = 1.535 kg.m/s

b) momentum of ball after collision

   P₂ = m v'

   P₂ = 0.0575 x (-29.5)

   P₂ = -1.696 kg.m/s

c) change in momentum

    Δ P = P₂ - P₁

    Δ P = -1.696 -1.535

    Δ P = -3.231 kg.m/s

d) using conservation of momentum

  initial speed of racket = 0 m/s

  M u + m v = Mu' + m v

  M x 0 + 0.0575 x 26.7 = 0.331 x u' + 0.0575 x (-29.5)

  0.331 u' = 3.232

     u' = 9.76 m/s

change in velocity of the racket is equal to 9.76 m/s

FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

The ratio of electric force to the gravitational force is 2.27\times 10^{39}

Explanation:

It is given that,

Distance between electron and proton, r=4.53\ A=4.53\times 10^{-10}\ m

Electric force is given by :

F_e=k\dfrac{q_1q_2}{r^2}

Gravitational force is given by :

F_g=G\dfrac{m_1m_2}{r^2}

Where

m_1 is mass of electron, m_1=9.1\times 10^{-31}\ kg

m_2 is mass of proton, m_2=1.67\times 10^{-27}\ kg

q_1 is charge on electron, q_1=-1.6\times 10^{-19}\ kg

q_2 is charge on proton, q_2=1.6\times 10^{-19}\ kg

\dfrac{F_e}{F_g}=\dfrac{kq_1q_2}{Gm_1m_2}

\dfrac{F_e}{F_g}=\dfrac{9\times 10^9\times (1.6\times 10^{-19})^2}{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times 9.1\times 10^{-31}\times 1.67\times 10^{-27}}

\dfrac{F_e}{F_g}=2.27\times 10^{39}

So, the ratio of electric force to the gravitational force is 2.27\times 10^{39}. Hence, this is the required solution.

Answer the following. (a) What is the surface temperature of Betelgeuse, a red giant star in the constellation of Orion, which r
bagirrra123 [75]

Answer:

(a) T = 2987.6 k

(b) T = 19986.2 k

Explanation:

The temperature of a star in terms of peak wavelength can be given by Wein's Displacement Law, which is as follows:

T = \frac{0.2898\ x\ 10^{-2}\ m.k}{\lambda_{max}}

where,

T = Radiated surface temperature

\lambda_{max} = peak wavelength

(a)

here,

\lambda_{max} = 970 nm = 9.7 x 10⁻⁷ m

Therefore,

T = \frac{0.2898\ x\ 10^{-2}\ m.k}{9.7\ x\ 10^{-7}\ m}

<u>T = 2987.6 k</u>

(b)

here,

\lambda_{max} = 145 nm = 1.45 x 10⁻⁷ m

Therefore,

T = \frac{0.2898\ x\ 10^{-2}\ m.k}{1.45\ x\ 10^{-7}\ m}

<u>T = 19986.2 k</u>

What Molecules can be found in the interstellar medium? A. Water, Carbon dioxide, and Hydrogen. B. Oxygen, Nitrogen and ammonia.
Masteriza [31]
The interstellar medium is the matter as well as the radiations that are found in the galaxies occupying the spaces between the star systems.
Interstellar medium is mainly composed of hydrogen that is followed by helium and trace amounts of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon (considered traces when compared to amount of hydrogen).

Therefor, the right choice is:
