How many grams of Cl are in 535 g of CaCl₂?
Sliva [168]
The answer is 341.7 g.

(1) Calculate the molar mass (M) of CaCl2 which is the sum of atomic masses (A) of elements:
M(CaCl2) = A(Ca) + 2A(Cl)
A(Ca) = 40.1 g/mol
A(Cl) = 35.45 g/mol

M(CaCl2) = 40.1 + 2 * 35.45 = 40.1 + 70.9 = 111 g/mol

(2) Calculate in how many moles are 535 g:
M(CaCl2) = 111 g/mol
111g : 1mol = 535 g : xmol
x = 535 g * 1mol : 111g = 4.82 mol

(3) Calculate how many grams of Cl are in 4.82 mol:
A(Cl) = 35.45 g/mol
2A(Cl) = 2 * 35.45 = 70.9 g/mol
70.9 g : 1 mol = x : 4.82 mol
x = 70.9 g * 4.82 mol : 1 mol = 341.7 g

why the element in periodic table which have more than three electron valens must plus ten in order to know the group in periodi
sergey [27]

Answer:-

If an element has 3 or more valence electrons then the element belongs to p block of the periodic table. For p block elements the group number is found out by adding the number of electrons in valence shell + 10.

The reason for this is because in the middle of the periodic table there are the d block elements ranging from group 3 to group 12 a total of 10 groups in between elements having 2 valence electrons and 3 valence electrons

Find the pH of 8.4x10^-8 M HCl. Report the answer to the hundredths place.
Hunter-Best [27]

Answer:

pH = 7.08

Explanation:

HCl ---------> H^+ + Cl^-

It's an acid, we are using this formula

pH = -log [H]^+

H^+ = 8.4 * 10^-8

pH = - log [8.4 * 10^-8]

It can also be solved as

-log 8.4-(-8log 10)

-0.924-(-8×1)

-0.924+8

7.076

To the nearest hundredth

pH = 7.08
