A transparent oil with index of refraction 1.28 spills on the surface of water (index of refraction 1.33), producing a maximum o
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

The thickness of the oil slick is 1.95\times10^{-7}\ m

Explanation:

Given that,

Index of refraction = 1.28

Wave length = 500 nm

Order m = 1

We need to calculate the thickness of oil slick

Using formula of thickness

2nt= m\lambda

Where, n = Index of refraction

t = thickness

\lambda = wavelength

Put the value into the formula

2\times1.28 \times t=1\times\times500\times10^{-9}

t = \dfrac{1\times\times500\times10^{-9}}{2\times1.28 }

t=1.95\times10^{-7}\ m

Hence, The thickness of the oil slick is 1.95\times10^{-7}\ m

What would you predict for this elephant's stride frequency? That is, how many steps per minute will the elephant take?
Sonja [21]
<span>` You can consider T to be in units of seconds/step. Frequency is the inverse of period, so
1/T = frequency and has units of steps per second. There will be 60 times as many steps in a minute.</span>

two pendulums of lengths 100cm and 110.25cm start oscillating in phase. after how many oscillations will they again be in same p
goldfiish [28.3K]

Angular frequency of pendulum is given by

\omega = \sqrt{\frac{g}{l}}

for both pendulum we have

\omega_1 = \sqrt{\frac{9.81}{1.00}}

\omega_1 = 3.13 rad/s

For other pendulum

\omega_2 = \sqrt{\frac{9.81}{1.1025}}

\omega_2 = 2.98 rad/s

now we have relate angular frequency given as

[tex\omega_1 - \omega_2 = 3.13 - 2.98 = 0.15 rad/s[/tex]

now time taken to become in phase again is given as

t = \frac{2\pi}{\omega_1 - \omega_2}

t = \frac{2\pi}{0.15} = 41.88 s

now number of oscillations complete in above time

N = \frac{t}{\frac{2\pi}{\omega_1}}

N = \frac{41.88}{\frac{2\pi}{3.13}}

N = 21 oscillation

Urgent i need help with these questions
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

1. 25%

2. You can move the skater higher up to increase the potential energy.

3. The kinetic energy increases because there is more motion.

Explanation:

1. If the total kinetic and potential energy is 100%, and we know that the kinetic energy is 75%, then we can find the potential by finding the missing value of this equation. Potential energy + kinetic energy =total energy.

? + 75%=100%

2. The higher an object is, the more potential energy it has because of the increase of its gravitational energy.

3. When an object is higher, there is more potential energy. As the skater goes down, the potential energy decreases which in turn increases the kinetic energy.
