An insulated rigid tank contains 3 kg of H2O in the form of a saturated mixture of liquid and vapor at a pressure of 150 kPa and

a quality of 0.25. An electric heater inside the tank is turned on to heat this H2O until the pressure increases to 200 kPa. Please determine the change in total entropy of water during this process. Hint: See if you can find the electrical work consumed during this process.

Answer:

change in entropy is 1.44 kJ/ K

Explanation:

from steam tables

At 150 kPa

specific volume

Vf = 0.001053 m^3/kg

vg = 1.1594 m^3/kg

specific entropy values are

Sf = 1.4337 kJ/kg K

Sfg = 5.789 kJ/kg

initial specific volume is calculated as

v_1 = vf + x(vg - vf)

      = 0.001053 + 0.25(1.1594 - 0.001053)

v_1 = 0.20964  m^3/kg

s_1 = Sf + x(Sfg)

     = 1.4337 + 0.25 \times 5.7894 = 2.88 kJ/kg K

FROM STEAM Table

at 200 kPa

specific volume

Vf = 0.001061 m^3/kg

vg = 0.88578 m^3/kg

specific entropy values are

Sf = 1.5302 kJ/kg K

Sfg = 5.5698 kJ/kg

constant volume  sov_1 -  v_2  = 0.29064 m^3/kg

v_2 = v_1 = vf + x(vg - vf)

       =0.29064 = x_2(0.88578 - 0.001061)

x_2 = 0.327

s_2 = 1.5302 + 0.32 \times 5.5968 = 3.36035 kJ/kg K

Change in entropy \Delta s = m(s_2 - s_1)

              =3( 3.36035 - 2.88) =  1.44 kJ/kg

Pulse rate

Also referred as heart rate can be affected due to vigorous exercise, age, health. Normally the pulse rate of an adult is between 60 to 100 beats per minute. pulse rate: 80 bpm.

Breathing rate

The amount of oxygen taken in inside of our body from the air. Breathing rate is usually affected due to age. Normal breathing rate of an adult is between 15 to 24 breaths per minute. breathing rate: 20 bpm.

Ratio of breathing to pulse rate

pulse rate : breathing rate

            80 : 20

Why can you jump further on the Moon than on the earth?
kicyunya [14]
Because the gravitational field strength on the moon (1.6N/kg)is smaller than the gravitational field strength on the earth (9.8N/kg). Weight= mass×gravitational field strength. Your mass is the same but as g is smaller, your weight decreases. weight is the gravitational force, the downwards force towards the centre of the planet, and as it will be smaller on the moon, the force of attraction between the moon and you is smalller so when you jumb you will reach a higher point above the ground than when you jumb on the earth. Basically the moon 'pulls' you less than the earth.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ONE QUESTION
STALIN [3.7K]

Answer:

282,250 joules

Explanation:

Given that :

Mass of liquid water = 125 gram.

Latent heat of vaporization, L = 2258 J/g

Recall :

Q = mL

Where, Q = quantity of heat required in Joules

Mass) m

L = latent heat of vaporization

Q = mL

Q = 125 g * 2258j/g

Q = 282,250 joules
