A beetle with a mass of 15.0 g is initially at rest on the outer edge of a horizontal turntable that is also initially at rest.

The turntable, which is free to rotate with no friction about an axis through its center, has a mass of 75.0 g and can be treated as a uniform disk. The beetle then starts to walk around the edge of the turntable, traveling at an angular velocity of 0.0500 rad/s clockwise with respect to the turntable.
What is the angular velocity of the turntable (with respect to you)? Use a positive sign if the answer is clockwise, and a negative sign if the answer is counter-clockwise.

Answer:

- 8.33 x 10⁻³ rad /s ( anticlockwise)

Explanation:

The rotational movement of beetle and turntable is caused by torque generated by internal forces , we can apply conservation of  angular momentum.

That is ,

I₁ ω₁ = I₂ω₂ ,   ω₁ and ω₂ are angular velocity of beetle and turntable respectively.

ω₁ + ω₂ = .05 radian /s ( given )

Momentum of inertia of beetle I₁ = mass x (distance from axis)²

= 15 x 10⁻³ x R² ( R is radius of the turntable )

Momentum of inertia of turntable  I₂ =1/2 mass x (distance from axis)²

= 75/2 x 10⁻³ x R² ( R is radius of the turntable )

I₁ ω₁ = I₂ω₂ ,

15 x 10⁻³ x R² x ( .05 -  ω₂ ) = 75/2 x 10⁻³ x R² ω₂

15 x  ( .05 -  ω₂ ) = 75/2 x  ω₂

.75 - 15ω₂ = 37.5ω₂

.75 = 52.5  ω₂

ω₂ = - 14.3  x 10⁻³ rad /s ( anticlockwise)

An object is traveling on a circle with a radius of 6 feet. If in 80 seconds a central angle of 9/4 radians is swept out, then f
trapecia [35]

Answer:

The angular speed of the object is 0.0281 rad/s

The linear speed of the object is 0.169 ft/s

Explanation:

Given;

radius of the circle, r = 6 ft

time of motion of the object around the circle, t = 80 s

central angle formed by the object during the motion, θ = 9/4 rad = 2.25 rad

The angular speed of the object is calculated as;

\omega = \frac{\theta }{t} = \frac{2.25 \ rad}{80 \ s} = 0.0281 \ rad/s

The linear speed of the object is calculated as;

v = ωr

v = 0.0281 rad/s   x    6ft

v = 0.169 ft/s

nert xenon actually forms many compounds, especially with highly electronegative fluorine. The ΔH o f values for xenon difluorid
loris [4]

Answer:

For Xenon fluoride, the average bond energy is 132kj/mol

For tetraflouride,the average bond energy is 150.5kj/mol.

For hexaflouride, the average bond energy is 146.5 kj/mol

Explanation:

For xenon fluoride

105/2 = 52.5

For F-F

159/2 = 79.5

Average bond energy of Xe-F = 79.5 + 52.5 = 132kj/mole

For tetraflouride

284/4 = 71

For F-F

159/2 = 79.5

Average bond energy = 79.5 + 71 = 150.5kj/mol

For hexaflouride

402/6 = 67

F-F = 159/2 = 79.5

Average bond energy = 67 + 79.5 = 146.5kj/ mol

What advantages does an electromagnet have over a permanent magnet?
KonstantinChe [14]
Electromagnets can be turned off, this makes it easier to release things from the magnetic field.

Hope this helps :)
