Answer:

CuSO_4 (aq) + Fe (s)\rightarrow FeSO_4 (aq) + Cu (s)

Explanation:

Identify all of the compounds present:

  • aqueous copper(II) sulfate: we have copper charged as 2+, sulfate anion has a charge of 2-. This means the charges are balanced if we take 1 ion of each to give CuSO_4 (aq);
  • solid iron metal: iron metal is Fe, then including the state of iron, we have Fe (s);
  • aqueous iron(II) sulfate: iron has a charge of 2+, sulfate has a charge of 2-, so the positive charge balances the negative charge to give a formula of FeSO_4 (aq);
  • solid copper metal: copper metal is Cu, then including the state of copper, we have Cu (s).

We then have a reaction:

CuSO_4 (aq) + Fe (s)\rightarrow FeSO_4 (aq) + Cu (s)

Question 9 rank the effective nuclear charge z * experienced by a valence electron in each of these atoms:
AlexFokin [52]
To rank the effective nuclear charge Z* experienced by a valence electrons of a set of atoms that belong to a same period, you only need to apply the rule of trend: it increases as you move from left to right in the period.

So, lets do it for these atoms: P,  Al, Si, Cl

The belong to a same period and the order is Al, Si, P, Cl (just see a periodic table). So the rank is Al < Si < P < Cl

Now, lets do it for these atoms:, Be, Ne, O, C

They belong to the second period. The order is Be, C, O, Ne

So, the rank is Be < C < O < Ne.
