The formula for Kinetic Energy is \frac{1}{2} mv^{2}

The formula for Potential Energy is mgh

In the above question, the hammer has an initial Kinetic Energy which hits the anvil loses some energy and rises up to gain potential energy.

Initial Kinetic Energy= \frac{1}{2} * 3 * 1.5^{2}

                                 =3.375 J

Potential Energy it gains after rising the particular height= 3*9.8*0.08

                                                                                              =2.352 J
