A horizontal spring with spring constant 100N/m is compressed 20cm and used to launch a 2.3kg box across a frictionless, horizon

tal surface. After the box travels some distance, the surface becomes rough. The coefficient of kinetic friction of the box on the surface is 0.15.Use work and energy to find how far the box slides across the rough surface before stopping.

Answer:

The box slides 0.58 m before stopping .

Explanation:

Given :

Spring constant , k = 100 N/m .

Compression in the spring , x = 20 cm .

Mass of box , m = 2.3 kg .

Coefficient of kinetic friction of the box on the surface is , \mu=0.15 .

Therefore , conserving energy of the system :

K.E_i+U_i=K.E_f+U_f\\\\\dfrac{kx^2}{2}+0=0+\mu( mgx)

Putting value in above equation we get :

\dfrac{100\times 0.2^2}{2}+0=0+0.15\times ( 2.3\times 10\times x)\\\\2=x\times 3.45\\x=0.58\ m

Therefore , the box slides 0.58 m before stopping .

Two separate but nearby coils are mounted along the same axis. A power supply controls the flow of current in the first coil, an
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

b.only when the current in the first coil changes.

Explanation:

An induced current flow in the second coil only when there is a change in current in the first cool. A steady current will produce no change in flux (due to magnetic effect of a current) by the first coil, and according to Faraday, induced current is only produced when there is a change in flux linkage.

When you're in an airplane that's 7 miles up off the ground, the strength of gravity plunges to only 99.6 percent of its strength all the way down on the ground. A big heavy person, who weighs 200 pounds down at the airport, weighs only 199 pounds 4.7 ounces in a plane at the altitude of 7 miles.

What does Kepler's first law of planetary motion imply?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

<u>Answer:</u>

The correct answer option is D.  The distance between the planet and the Sun changes as the planet orbits the sun.

<u>Explanation:</u>

Kepler’s laws of planetary motion, derived by the German astronomer Johannes Kepler, are the laws of physics that describe the motions of the planets in the solar system.

According to the Kepler's first law of planetary motion: the path on which the planets orbit around the sun is elliptical in shape, with the center of the sun at one focus.

Therefore, the distance between the Sun and the planets vary as the planet orbit around the sun.
