Antimony has 2 naturally occurring isotopes. The mass of antimony-121 is 120.904 amu and the mass of antimony-123 is 122.904 amu

. Using the average atomic mass from the periodic table, find the abundance of each isotope. (Remember that the sum of the two abundances must be 100. Show your work.)

Wow, now this one is a hard one, took me quite a while to figure it out but here it is:
120.904(x)+122.904(1-x)=121.76 \\
120.904x-122.904x+122.904=121.76 \\
-2x+122.904=121.76 \\
-2x=-1.144 \\
x=.572 \\
1-.572=.428
The abundances of the two isotopes is:
Antimony-121 = 57.2%
Antimony-123 = 42.8%

1. When the temperature of a rigid hollow sphere containing 685 L of helium gas is
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

250.756 moles He

Explanation:

From the question we are given;

Volume, L = 685 L

Temperature, T = 621 K

Pressure, P = 189 × 10 kPa

We are required to calculate the number of moles of the gas,

Using the Ideal gas equation,

PV = nRT, where P is the pressure, V is the volume, T is the temperature, n is the number of moles, and R is the ideal gas constant.

We can replace the known variables and constant in the equation to get the unknown variable, n.

Using ideal gas constant as 8.3145 L.kPa/K/mol

n=\frac{PV}{RT}

n=\frac{(1890)(685)}{(8.3145)(621)}

n = 250.7557 moles

 n = 250.756 moles

The moles of helium contained in the sphere is 250.756 moles

1. 4.67 kg; 2. 4.8 ×10^5 kg; 3. 0.106 cm^3; 4. 1.7 g/cm^3

Q1. Mass of Hg

Mass = 345 mL × (13.53 g/1 mL) = 4670 g = 4.67 kg

Q2. Mass of Pb

Step 1. Calculate the volume of the Pb.

V = lwh = 6.0 m × 3.5 m × 2.0 m = 42.0 m^3

Step 2. Calculate the mass of the Pb.

Mass = 42.0 m^3 × (11 340 kg/1 m^3) = 4.8 × 10^5 kg

Q3. Volume of displaced water

Volume of Ag = 0.987 g × (1 cm^3/9.320 g) = 0.106 cm^3

Archimedes: volume of displaced water = volume of Ag = 0.106 cm^3

4. Density of metal

Step 1. Convert ounces to grams

Mass = 3.35 oz × (28.35 g/1 oz) = 94.97 g

Step 2. Calculate the volume in cubic inches

V = lwh = 3.0 in × 2.5 in × 0.45 in = 3.38 in^3

Step 3. Convert cubic inches to cubic centimetres

V = 3.38 in^3 × (2.54 cm/1 in)^3 = 55.3 cm^3

Step 4. Calculate the density

ρ = m/V = (94.97 g/55.3 cm^3) = 1.7 g/cm^3 (magnesium?)

A prairie dog eats grass. A coyote eats the prairie dog. This is an example
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

This is an example of a food chain

Explanation:

Think of it as a chain reaction. The grass feeds and nourishes the prairie dog. Upon eating the prairie dog, the coyote gets the nutrients from both the grass the prairie dog ate and from the prairie dog itself.

Select the statements that correctly describe a buffer. a) An acid added to the buffer solution reacts with the weak base of the
Tom [10]

Answer:

 • (B.) The pH of a buffer solution is determined by the ratio of the concentration of conjugate base to the concentration of strong acid.
 • (C.) A buffer is generally made up of a weak acid and its conjugate base.
 • (D.) The pH of a buffer solution does not change significantly when any amount of a strong acid is added.

Explanation:

A buffer is solution which resists change in pH upon addition of either acids or bases.

The pH of a buffer is calculated by the ratio of the concentration of base to concentration of acid. The weak acid and conjugate base have a Ka similar to the pH desired.
