Drag each item to indicate whether it is related to Aristotle's or Ptolemy's model of the solar system, or to both. Some items m
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]

Answer:

<u>Aristotle's Model :</u>

geocentric

planets fixed on nested spheres

<u></u>

<u>Ptolemy's model:</u>

geocentric

planets fixed on epicycles

accurately predicted the positions of the planets

Explanation:

Let's begin by the fact both models are geocentric  and make a brief explanation of them:

<u></u>

<u>Aristotle's Model :</u>

Aristotle built his model based on observations and philosophical assumptions, not on measurements or calculations, then he mistakenly thought the Earth was the center of the universe.

So, according to this model, the universe was spherical and finite, with the Earth immobile at its center, composed of the four fundamental elements (made up of spherical layers): <em>ground, water, air and fire</em>; and the Sun along with the fixed planets in their respective concentric spheres (also called nested spheres) revolving around the Earth.

<u>Ptolemy's model:</u>

Ptolemy's model of the universe was also geocentric, placing the Earth motionless in the center of the known universe and was the accepted model for a long time during the Middle Ages.

In this sense, ccording to Ptolemy's model of the universe our planet remains stationary while the other planets, the Moon and the Sun describe complicated orbits around it (called epicycles).

However, this model predicted with an acceptable accuracy for that time the motion of the known planets, until Copernicus appeared with the revolutionary Heliocentric model.

The reaction of perchloric acid (HClO4) with lithium hydroxide (LiOH) is described by the equation: HClO4 + LiOH → LiClO4 + H2O
dem82 [27]

Answer:

A. 0.35 M

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, given the volume and concentration of lithium hydroxide and the volume of chloric acid, we can compute the concentration of the neutralized acid by using the following equation:

n_{acid}=n_{base}\\\\V_{acid}M_{acid}=V_{base}M_{base}\\\\M_{acid}=\frac{V_{base}M_{base}}{V_{acid}} =\frac{46.9mL*0.75M}{100mL}\\ \\M_{acid}=0.35M

Therefore, answer is A. 0.35 M.

Regards.

You are given an unknown type of clothing dye. how could you use the procedures in this lab to see if this dye is a mixture?
Arte-miy333 [17]
One separation technique to be used is the paper chromatography. This works by separating the components of the mixture through the difference of their concentrations. There is a stationary phase and the mobile phase, which flows through the stationary phase. The components travel at different rates and is usually signified by the colors. If more than one color would appear, that means that the dye is a mixture.

When dipentyl ether is treated with HI, what type of reaction occurs? both SN1 and SN2 SN2 E1 SN1 E2
masha68 [24]

Answer:

SN2

Explanation:

The first step of ether cleavage is the protonation of the ether since ROH is a better leaving group than RO-.

The second step of the reaction may proceed by either SN1 or SN2 mechanism depending on the structure of the ether. Methyl and primary ethers react with HI by SN2 mechanism while tertiary ethers react with HI by SN1 mechanism. Secondary ethers react with HI by a mixture of both mechanisms.

Dipentyl ether is a primary ether hence when treated with HI, the reaction with HI proceeds by SN2 mechanism as explained above.
