When galaxies move farther away the wavelength of the light is longer causing the galaxy to shift red but if it moves closer, the wavelength of the light gets smaller causing the galaxy to blue shift. The reason that the wavelength increases or decrease is due to the doppler effect.

If a power lifter raises a 1000N weight a distance of 2 meters in 0.5 seconds, what is his power out put?
Irina18 [472]

Answer:

P = 4000 [W]

Explanation:

In order to solve this problem, we must first determine the work, which is defined as the product of force by distance.

W = F*d

where:

W = work [J] (units in Joules)

F = force = 1000[N]

d = distance = 2 [m]

W = 1000*2

W = 2000 [J]

And power is defined as the relationship between work and the time in which the work is done.

P = W/t

P = power [W] (units of watts)

t = time = 0.5 [s]

P = 2000/0.5

P = 4000 [W]

An airtight box has a removable lid of area 1.10 10-2 m2 and negligible weight. The box is taken up a mountain where the air pre
andrezito [222]

Answer:

F=7.7\times10^2 N

Explanation:

The magnitude of force required to pull the lid off the box by air pressure.

We know that Pressure, P= Force(F)/Area(A)

Force, F= P×A

Given: A=1.10\times10^{-2} m^2

P=7\times10^{4} Pa.

Therefore, F=7\times10^{4}\times1.10\times10^{-2}.

F=7.7\times10^2 N

Dan is gliding on his skateboard at 4.00m/s . He suddenly jumps backward off the skateboard, kicking the skateboard forward at 6
frozen [14]

To solve this problem we will apply the concepts related to the conservation of the Momentum. For this purpose we will define the momentum as the product between mass and velocity, and by conservation the initial momentum will be equal to the final momentum. Mathematically this is,

m_1u_1+m_2u_2 = m_1v_1+m_2v_2

Here,

m_{1,2} = Mass of Dan and Skateboard respectively

u_{1,2} = Initial velocity of Dan and Skateboard respectively

v_{1,2} = Final velocity of Dan and Skateboard respectively

Our values are:

Dan's mass

m_1 = 60kg

Mass of the skateboard

m_2 = 7.0kg

Both have the same initial velocity, then

u_1= u_2 = 4m/s

Final velocity of Skateboard is

v_2 = 6m/s

Rearranging to find the final velocity of Dan we have then,

m_1u_1+m_2u_2 = m_1v_1+m_2v_2

m_1v_1+m_2v_2 = (m_1+m_2)u_1

v_1 = \frac{ (m_1+m_2)u_1 -m_2v_2}{m_1}

Replacing,

v_1 = \frac{(60+7)(4)-(7)(6)}{60}

v_1 = 3.76m/s

Therefore Dan will touch the ground at a speed of 3.76m/s
