Alice is going on a picnic and is aware that it will be easier to carry the picnic basket if it balances at the center where the

handle is attached. She has placed a 1.65-kg container of potato salad at one end and a 0.675-kg package of hot dogs at the other end of a 52.0-cm long basket. Determine where she should place a 1.85-kg container of lemonade so that the basket balances at its center.

Answer: 13.703cm from the center of the basket on the end holding the 0.675kg package of hot dog.

Explanation:

The center of the basket is at point 26 cm from each end of the basket.

This is gotten from the evaluation;

52cm/2.

The principle of moments is very important in solving this problem,

"The algebraic sum of all clockwise moments must be equal to he algebraic sum of all anticlockwise moments"

The statement above is the principle of moments.

Now to the question,

Since the acceleration due to gravity is assumed to be equal for all of the masses,

By intuition, the basket would tilt downwards on the end which holds the 1.65kg container of potato salad.

Consequently, to balance the basket 1.85kg container of lemonade must be placed at a distance, x from the center of the basket along the length of the basket (on the end holding the 0.675 package of hot dog).

Therefore, Taking moments about the center of the basket,

(1.65kg×26cm)=(0.675kg×26cm)+(1.85cm×xcm)

Therefore from the expression above, x = 13.703cm from the center on the basket on the side which holds the 0.675kg package of hot dog.

PS: The knowledge of moments of forces is very important in understanding machines especially those which are used for measuring weights relative to other weights.

Answer:

= 13.7m

Explanation:

Balancing moment about mid point

the equation will be

m_1x_1+m_2x_2+m_3x_3 = 0

Given that

m₁ = 1.65kg

m₂ = 0.675kg

distance x = 52cm

(1.65)(\frac{-0.52}{2} )+(0.675)(\frac{0.52}{2} )+(1.85)x_3\\\\(1.85)x_3= (1.65)(\frac{0.52}{2} )+(0.675)(\frac{-0.52}{2} )

x_3 = \frac{(1.65)(\frac{-0.52}{2} )+(o.675)(\frac{0.52}{2} )}{1.85} \\\\= 0.137cm

x = 13.7m

13.7m from the mid point towards 1.85kg mass so that basket balance at its center.

kifflom [539]

Answer:

x_{distance}=10.07km

Explanation:

Given data

time=0.530 h

Average velocity Vavg=19.0 km/s

To find

Displacement Δx

Solution

The Formula for average velocity is given as

V_{avg}=(x_{distance} )/(t_{time} )\\ x_{distance}=V_{avg}*(t_{time} )\\x_{distance}=(19.0km/h)*(0.530h)\\x_{distance}=10.07km

Earth's gravitational field is strongest at _______.
Serga [27]
Earth's gravity is stronger at the poles than the equator for two reasons: The centrifugal "force" cancels out the gravity minimally, more so at the equator than at the poles.

a car with a mass of 2000 kilograms is moving around a circular curve at a uniform velocity of 25 meters per second. The curve h
melisa1 [442]
In the given problem, we say various information's that are going to help us reach the ultimate answer to the question. Let us first write the information's that have been presented in front of us.
Mass of the car = 2000 kg
Velocity of the car = 25 m/s^2
Radius of the circle = 80 m
Now we already know the equation for calculating the centripetal force and that is
Centripetal Force = [mass * (velocity)^2]/Radius
                            = [2000 * (25)^2]/80
                            = (2000 * 625)/80
                            = 1250000/80
                            = 15625
So the centripetal force on the car is 15625 Newtons

What are the magnitude and direction of the acceleration of an electron at a point where the electric field has magnitude 6100 n
Hoochie [10]

Force on electron due to electric field is given by

F = eE

F = 1.6 * 10^{-19}* 6100

F = 9.76 * 10^{-16} N

now the acceleration is given by

a = \frac{F}{m}

a = \frac{9.76 * 10^{-16}}{9.1 * 10^{-31}}

a = 1.07 * 10^{15} m/s^2

so above is the magnitude of acceleration and its direction is opposite to field as electron is negatively charged so direction is towards SOUTH
