Two resistors have resistances R(smaller) and R(larger), where R(smaller) < R(larger). When the resistors are connected in se

ries to a 12.0-V battery, the current from the battery is 1.12 A. When the resistors are connected in parallel to the battery, the total current from the battery is 9.39 A. Determine the two resistances.

Answer:

R = 9.85 ohm , r = 0.85 ohm

Explanation:

Let the two resistances by r and R.

when they are connected in series:

V = 12 V

i = 1.12 A

The equivalent resistance when they are connected in series is

Rs = r + R

So, By using Ohm's law

V = i Rs

Rs = V / i = 12 / 1.12 = 10.7 ohm

R + r = 10.7 ohm    .... (1)

When they are connected in parallel:

V = 12 V

i = 9.39 A

The equivalent resistance when they are connected in parallel

R_{p}=\frac{R+r}{rR}

So, By using Ohm's law

V = i Rp

Rp = V / i = 12 / 9.39 = 1.28 ohm

\frac{R+r}{rR}=1.28    .... (2)

by substituting the value of R + r from equation (1) in equation (2), we get

r R = 8.36 ..... (3)

R-r = \sqrt{\left ( R+r \right )^{2}-4rR}

R-r = \sqrt{\left ( 10.7 \right )^{2}-4\times 8.36}=9 ..... (4)

By solvng equation (1) and (4), we get

R = 9.85 ohm , r = 0.85 ohm

How much pure gold (24/24) is to be added to 15.0 grams of 14 K gold (14/24) to obtain 18 K gold (18/24)?
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

10 gram gold is added

Explanation:

given data

pure gold = (24/24)

added = 15 grams

gold = 14 K  ( 14/24)

gold = 18 K ( 18/24)

to find out

How much pure gold added

solution

we know here that when we add gold to get 20 K gold or 22K

so we added here 15 gram 14 K

we consider here m is pure gold added

so by composition here

we get

15 (14K)  + m ( 24 K) = ( 15 + m ) (18)    ...................1

solve it and find m

m = 10

so 10 gram gold is added

When you eat a large meal and your body absorbs a lot of glucose and that makes its way to the interstitial fluid before going i
Agata [3.3K]

Answer:A. It is modified by the cell, so there is still more glucose on the outside of the cell than inside it

Explanation: The cells are the primary unit of a living organism,it is the place where cellular respiration takes place, which is the use of oxygen to break down food substances such as Glucose to release energy in the form of Adenosine trisphosphate (ATP) and give out Carbondioxide as a by-product of cellular respiration.

Most of the Glucose enter the cells to get modified through cellular respiration so their is still more Glucose outside than the Glucose inside.

A rope of negligible mass supports a block that weighs 30.0 N. as shown below. The maximum tension the rope can support without
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

a = 6.7 m/s²

Explanation:

The formula to apply here is :

Mass * acceleration = Tension -weight

m*a = Ft -mg  -----where m is mass of block, a is acceleration , Ft  is force due to tension.

Given in the question that ;

Mass of block = 3 kg

Ft = 50 N

g= 10

m*a = Ft -mg

3*a = 50-30

3a= 20

a= 20/3

a= 6.7 m/s²

Toy car will take the least amount of force.
this is because the toy car has a much lighter mad than the other objects meaning it will take less force to get it to move.
