How many moles are present in 54.8 mL of mercury if the density of mercury is 13.6 g/mL?
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

3.72 mol Hg

General Formulas and Concepts:

Chemistry - Atomic Structure

 • Reading a Periodic Table
 • Using Dimensional Analysis
 • Density = Mass over Volume

Explanation:

Step 1: Define

D = 13.6 g/mL

54.8 mL Hg

Step 2: Identify Conversions

Molar Mass of Hg - 200.59 g/mol

Step 3: Find

13.6 g/mL = x g / 54.8 mL

x = 745.28 g Hg

Step 4: Convert

745.28 \ g \ Hg(\frac{1 \ mol \ Hg}{200.59 \ g \ Hg} ) = 3.71544 mol Hg

Step 5: Check

We are given 3 sig figs. Follow sig fig rules and round.

3.71544 mol Hg ≈ 3.72 mol Hg

Given the following formula 2 KCIO3 -> 2 KCI + 3 O2 how many moles of O2 can be produced by letting 12 moles of KCIO3 react?
poizon [28]
1st you need to find the mole ratio between KClO3 and O2. To find that you need to take the coefficents of each of the compounds. That gives a ratio of 2:3.

Now we find out how many each unit is:
2x = 12
x = 6

Now we multiply it by 3 to find the number of moles of O2
3(6) = 18 mol O2.

If you are asked to compare matter in solid, liquid, and gaseous states, which statement best defines a gas?
Elza [17]
I am pretty sure that If I were asked to compare matter in solid, liquid, and gaseous states, the statement which would best defined a gas is highest energy, highest molecular motion, and least dense packaging of molecules. I choose this one because it's not sensible to heat CO2 (in case of safety) and in the last option the amount of energy is not satisfying.

Hope it helps!

Answer:

02 is a product

Explanation:

it doesnt take part in chemical reaction so its not reactant.02 doesnt alter rate of chemical reaction so it cannot be catalyst. it is gas it is not solid so it is a product.
