A pitcher is in 85° of abduction, holding a 1.4 N baseball at point C, 65 cm from the joint axis at point O • The center of grav

ity of his arm is 25 cm from the joint axis of shoulder abduction at point O • The weight of the arm W is 0.06 of the pitcher’s weight of 100 N • Deltoids muscles are at an angle θ of 15° with respect to the humerus and insert 15 cm from the joint axis at point A • Determine the force applied by the Deltoid muscles and the joint reaction force at the shoulder joint and its orientation β

I attached a Diagram for this problem.

We star considering the system is in equlibrium, so

Fm makes 90-(\theta+5) with vertical

Fm makes 70 with vertical

Applying summatory in X we have,

\sum F_x = 0

W+1.4-Fm cos(70)

We know that W is equal to

W= 0.06*100N = 6N

Substituting,

Fm cos (70) = W+1.4N

Fm cos (70) = 6N + 1.4N

Fm = \frac{7.4}{cos(70)}

Fm = 21.636N

<em>For the second part we know that the reaction force Fj on deltoid Muscle is equal to Fm, We can assume also that</em> \beta = \theta

An airplane has an effective wing surface area of 19.4 m2 that is generating the lift force. In level flight the air speed over
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

W =23807.68 N

Explanation:

given,

surface area of wing = 19.4 m²

speed over top wing = 67 m/s

speed under wing = 51 m/s

density of air =  1.3 kg/m³

weight of plane

From Bernoulli's principle

P_1 + \dfrac{1}{2}\rho v_1^2 = P_2 + \dfrac{1}{2}\rho_2^2

where 1 and 2 are two different locations at the same geo potential level

so if we call 1 the lower surface and 2 the upper surface,

we find the pressure differential, P₁ -P₂

\Delta P =\dfrac{1}{2}\rho (v_2^2-v_1^2)

\Delta P =\dfrac{1}{2}\times 1.3 \times (67^2-51^2)

\Delta P =1227.2\ N/m^2

then the force acting on the plane is

F=P A

F=1227.2 x 19.4

F =23807.68 N

weight of the plane

W =23807.68 N

Lynna [10]

Hi! The answer is C

As west is defined as negative, the trucks velocity is positive, since its travelling east. But its speed (absolute value of velocity) is decreasing, that means that the acceleration is negative.

A box of books weighing 325 N moves at a constant velocity across the floor when the box is pushed with a force of 425 N exerted
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

Mu,k between the floor and the box is 0.609

Explanation:

given information:

weight of the book, W = 325 N

applied force, F = 425 N

angle, θ = 35.2°

to find the coefficient kinetic between the floor and the box, wee need to calculate the horizontal and vertical force.

first we calculate the vertical force, there are weight, normal force(N) and applied vertical force.

according to Newton's first law

ΣF = 0

ΣF_{y} = 0

W - N + F sin θ = 0

N = W + F sin θ

Next, we calculate the force in horizontal direction. applied force and friction force(F_{friction})

ΣF_{x} = 0

F cos θ - F_{friction} = 0

F cos θ - μk (W - F sin θ) = 0

μk =  (F cos θ) / (W + F sin θ)

    = (425 cos 35.2°)/(325+425 sin 35.2°)

    = 0.609
