Answer:

(a). The work done is 7001 MeV.

(b). The momentum of this proton is 4.20\times10^{8}\ kg-m/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Speed = 0.993 c

We need to calculate the work done

Using work energy theorem

The work done is equal to the kinetic energy relative to the proton

W=K.E

W=\dfrac{m_{p}c^2}{\sqrt{1-\dfrac{v^2}{c^2}}}-m_{p}c^2

Put the value into the formula

W=\dfrac{1.67\times10^{-27}\times(3\times10^{8})^2}{\sqrt{1-(\dfrac{0.993c}{c})^2}}-1.67\times10^{-27}\times(3\times10^{8})^2

W=\dfrac{1.67\times10^{-27}\times(3\times10^{8})^2}{\sqrt{1-(0.993)^2}}-1.67\times10^{-27}\times(3\times10^{8})^2

W=1.122\times10^{-9}\ J

W=7001\ MeV

(b). We need to calculate  the momentum of this proton

Using formula of momentum

p=\dfrac{m_{0}v}{\sqrt{1-\dfrac{v^2}{c^2}}}

Put the value into the formula

p=\dfrac{1.67\times10^{-27}\times0.993c}{\sqrt{1-(\dfrac{0.993c}{c})^2}}

p=\dfrac{1.67\times10^{-27}\times0.993c}{\sqrt{1-(0.993)^2}}

p=1.404\times10^{-26}c

p=4.20\times10^{8}\ kg-m/s

Hence, (a). The work done is 7001 MeV.

(b). The momentum of this proton is 4.20\times10^{8}\ kg-m/s.

Explanation:

<h3>a) Mass of the continent</h3>

Density \rho  is defined as a relation between mass m and volume V:

\rho=\frac{m}{V} (1)

Where:

\rho=2720 kg/m^{3} is the average density of the continent

m is the mass of the continent

V is the volume of the continent, which can be estimated is we assume it as a a slab of rock 5300 km on a side and 37 km deep:

V=(length)(width)(depth)=(5300 km)(5300 km)(37 km)=1,030,330,000 km^{3} \frac{(1000 m)^{3}}{1 km^{3}}=1.03933(10)^{18} m^{3}

Finding the mass:

m=\rho V (2)

m=(2720 kg/m^{3})(1.03933(10)^{18} m^{3}) (3)

m=2.82(10)^{21} kg (4) This is the mass of the continent

<h3>b) Kinetic energy of the continent</h3>

Kinetic energy K is given by the following equation:

K=\frac{1}{2}mv^{2} (5)

Where:

m=2.82(10)^{21} kg is the mass of the continent

v=4.8 \frac{cm}{year} \frac{1 m}{100 cm} \frac{1 year}{365 days} \frac{1 day}{24 hours} \frac{1 hour}{3600 s}=1(10)^{-9} m/s is the velocity of the continent

K=\frac{1}{2}(2.82(10)^{21} kg)(1(10)^{-9} m/s)^{2} (6)

K=1410 J (7) This is the kinetic energy of the continent

<h3>c) Speed of the jogger</h3>

If we have a jogger with mass m=77 kg and the same kinetic energy as that of the continent 1413 J, we can find its velocity by isolating v from (5):

v=\sqrt{\frac{2 K}{m}} (6)

v=\sqrt{\frac{2 (1413 J)}{77 kg}}

Finally:

v=36.62 m/s This is the speed of the jogger

Why is the escape speed for a spacecraft independent of the spacecraft's mass?
scoray [572]
In order to escape the gravitational pull of our planet, any object must have an escape velocity of 7 km/s  or more, anything lower than that will be slowed down by the pull of gravity, and will eventually returned to the surface of our planet. It is independent of mass, any lighter or heavier object must attain the required escaped velocity to reach space.

Hitungkan pecutan bagi blok di bawah: / Cal<br>(a)<br>m= 2 kg<br>F= 8.0 N
ioda

Answer:

Acceleration = 4 m/s²

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Force = 8 N

Mass = 2 kg

To find the acceleration of the block;

Newton's Second Law of Motion states that the acceleration of a physical object is directly proportional to the net force acting on the physical object and inversely proportional to its mass.

Mathematically, it is given by the formula;

Acceleration = \frac {Net \; force}{mass}

Substituting into the formula, we have;

Acceleration = \frac {8}{2}

Acceleration = 4 m/s²

is this true or false? an object with a mass of 9.0kg has an acceleration of 3m/s2. the force acting on it is 3N
ludmilkaskok [199]

The answer is "False". The force acting on the object is 27 N.

According to Newton's second law, when a force <em>F</em> acts on am object of mass <em>m</em>, it produces an acceleration <em>a</em>. The force is given by the expression,

F=ma

Thus, if the body has a mass of 9.0 kg and if it has an acceleration of 3 m/s², then, on substituting the values in the equation for force,

F=ma\\ =(9.0kg)(3m/s^2)\\ =27N

Thus, it can be seen that the force acting on the body is 27 N and not 3 N as is mentioned in the statement. Hence the statement is false.
