Answer:

3.5 cm

Explanation:

mass, m = 50 kg

diameter = 1 mm

radius, r = half of diameter = 0.5 mm = 0.5 x 10^-3 m

L = 11.2 m

Y = 2 x 10^11 Pa

Area of crossection of wire = π r² = 3.14 x 0.5 x 10^-3 x 0.5 x 10^-3

                                              = 7.85 x 10^-7 m^2

Let the wire is stretch by ΔL.

The formula for Young's modulus is given by

Y =\frac{mgL}{A\Delta L}

\Delta L =\frac{mgL}{A\times Y}

ΔL = 0.035 m = 3.5 cm

Thus, the length of the wire stretch by 3.5 cm.

Dmitry [639]

Answer:

B. the force of friction of the road on the tires

Explanation:

Unless the car engine is like jet engine, the main force that accelerates the car forward is the force of friction of the road on the tires, which is ultimately driven by the force of engine on the tires shaft. As the engine, and the shaft are part of the system, their interaction is internal. According to Newton laws of motion, the acceleration needs external force, in this case it's the friction of the road on the tires.

1. James drives 400 km in 5 hours to his grandmothers. What are the units for speed going to be?
Airida [17]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

1. Speed is calculated as the ratio of distance and time. Hence, Jame's speed can be calculated as:

       400/5 km/hr = 80 km/hr

The unit for the speed would be km/hr. This can also be converted to m/s:

80 km = 80,000 m

1 hr = 3,600 s

80 km/hr = 80,000/3600 m/s = 22.22 m/s

2. Since James drove 400 km in 5 hours, the distance he drove is 400 km.

3. The time it took for James to get there is 5 hours.
