Answer:

Concentric tubes or double tube.

Casing and tubes.

Plates.

Explanation:

There are two classify of heat exchange:

1) Direct contact heat exchanger: the exchange heat is produced by the mixture betweenn two fluids, for example refrigeration towers.

2) Indirect contact heat exchange: the fluids never mix, and exchange the heat across a surface.

For example:

Concentric tubes or double tube: the fluid travel trough the central tube, and in the extern tube (bigger diameter) have other fluir with a different tempreature which can give o became the heat of the central fluid.

Casing and tubes are used in Industries, which have a lot of tube inside tha casing.

Plates: the fluid travel throug the metal plates.

The radial component of acceleration of a particle moving in a circular path is always:________ a. negative. b. directed towards
lesya [120]

Answer:

d. all of the above

Explanation:

There are two components of acceleration for a particle moving in a circular path, radial and tangential acceleration.

The radial acceleration is given by;

a_r = \frac{V^2}{R}

Where;

V is the velocity of the particle

R is the radius of the circular path

This radial acceleration is always directed towards the center of the path, perpendicular to the tangential acceleration and negative.

Therefore, from the given options in the question, all the options are correct.

d. all of the above

Give two methods on how powder is produced in powder metallurgy.
Katen [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

  • <u>Atomization using gas stream</u>

Molten metal is forced through a small orifice and is shatter by a jet of compressed air,inert gas .

In Atomization, the particles shape is analysed  by the rate of solidification and varies from spherical to highly irregular shape.

  • Reduction

oxide of metals are transformed to pure metal powder when undefended to under melting point gases results in a product of spongy material.

It is used for Iron,copper,tungsten,Nickel etc.

A large spherical tank contains gas at a pressure of 400 psi. The tank is constructed of high-strength steel having a yield stre
jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer:

t=2.025 inches

Explanation:

Given that

P = 400 Psi

Yield stress ,σ = 80 ksi

Diameter ,d= 45 ft

We know that

1 ft = 12 inches

d= 540 inches

Factor of safety ,K= 3

The required thickness given as

\dfrac {Pd}{4t}=\dfrac{\sigma}{K}

t=thickness

\dfrac {PdK}{4\sigma}=t

\dfrac {400\times 540\times 3}{4\times 80\times 1000}=t

t=2.025 inches

Therefore thickness will be 2.025 inches.
