A pair of narrow slits that are 1.8 mm apart is illuminated by a monochromatic coherent light source. A fringe pattern is observ

ed on a screen 4.8 m from the slits. If there are 5.0 bright fringes/cm on the screen, what is the wavelength of the monochromatic light?

Answer:

750 mm

Explanation:

Given:

d = 1.8 mm

R = 4.8 m

m = 5

y = 1

Using the equation

y = (mLR)/d ,

where,

m gives a distance 'y' to that particular slit image.

R = distance from the double slits to the screen

d = double slit separation distance.

L = wavelength of the light.

substituting the values in the given equation

we get

L = \frac{1\times 1.8\times 10^{-3}}{5\times 4.8}

or

L = 750 mm

Answer:

The wavelength of the monochromatic light is 7.5\times10^{-7}\ m

Explanation:

Given that,

Distance between the slits d = 1.8 mm

Distance of fringe from the slits D =4.8 m

Number of fringe m =1

Distance between the fringes = 1 cm

We need to calculate the wavelength of monochromatic light

Using formula of young's double slits

\lambda=\dfrac{Yd}{mD}

Where, d = Distance between the slits

D = Distance of fringe from the slits

m = Number of fringe

y = Distance between the fringes

Put the value in to the formula

\lambda=\dfrac{1\times10^{-2}\times1.8\times10^{-3}}{5\times4.8}

\lambda =7.5\times10^{-7}\ m

Hence, The wavelength of the monochromatic light is 7.5\times10^{-7}\ m

How do H-R diagrams help scientists compare new stars with the Sun? In your answer, name one type of data that H-R diagrams do n
damaskus [11]

Answer

Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram is an essential tool used in stellar evolution. In the universe, there are several hundreds of billions of stars. Scientists use the tool, in differentiation, the billions of stars in the world from the sun. In the HR tool, there is plotting of the luminosity or energy output of a star, which is plotted on the X-axis of a graph against the absolute magnitude. The sun's magnitude is an absolute of +48, which, when plotted against its luminosity, helps in setting an apparent variance between the sun and any other star. Additionally, the sun has been identified as the primary star with a very high temperature. Hence the tool can locate the sun from other forms of stars. HR diagrams outline data such as temperature and luminosity or energy. However, star distance from the Erath is not a type of data represented in the charts.

What are some possible examples of genetic characteristics that can be passed down to child??????
elena-s [515]
They can have a close similar appearance to the parents, have close relation of child reactions.

for example, everyone born in my father's side of the family had the tendency to bump their head on something as they fall asleep up to the point when you are a toddler.

Relay of thermostate is not working why
Colt1911 [192]

Check the power source. Your thermostat may just not be connected right or at all. A blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker or dead batteries will prevent the thermostat from turning on your furnace.

Dirty thermostat? That’ll cause issues. Clean up any dust, dirt, spider webs and other debris. Any of these things can coat the inside of the thermostat and interfere with both electrical and mechanical functions of the thermostat. Put this on your get-ready-for-winter cleaning list. Just use a soft, clean brush to clean the inside components gently. Don’t get anything wet. Also you can use a can of compressed air, such as is used for electronics, to clear debris.

Check for any loose wires or terminal screws inside the thermostat. Make sure wires aren’t corroded or detached. Never remove the thermostat cover without removing the batteries or turning off the power at the fuse or breaker box. Tighten screws and secure loose wires if needed.

It may be time to replace your thermostat is it’s old. They aren’t meant to last forever and an old thermostat may be costing you a lot of money in wasted energy and time spent tinkering with an outdated model. There are great programmable thermostats available now that are easy to use and simple to connect to your existing HVAC system. Click here for more info on programmable thermostats.
