Option A: baking soda, pH=9

The number of hydroxide ions or concentration of hydroxide ions depends on pOH of solution as follows:

pOH=-log[OH^{-}]

This means more the value of pOH, smaller will be the number of hydroxide ions.

Thus, solution with smaller value of pOH, will have greatest number of hydroxide ions.

Also, pH and pOH are related to each other as follows:

pOH=14-pH

Calculating pOH from all the given pH values,

pOH of baking soda:

pOH=14-9=5

pOH of milk:

pOH=14-6=8

pOH of tomato juice:

pOH=14-3.5=10.5

pOH of vinegar:

pOH=14-2=12

here, baking soda has smallest pOH value, thus, it will have greatest number of hydroxide ions.

Also, more the basic is solution, more it will have hydroxide ions, or more is the value of pH more the solution is basic. The pH of baking soda is maximum that is 9 thus, it is most basic among given options and contain greater number of hydroxide ions.

A van moves with a constant speed
Kitty [74]

Answer:

1.5 hours or 90 minutes

Explanation:

Velocity = d/t

V = 64 mi / hour or 96 mi / 9 min OR 16 mi / 15 min

D = 96 miles

Velocity * Time = Distance

Time = Distance / Velocity

T = 96 mi / 64 mi / hour

96 / 64 = 1.5 mi per hour

T = 1.5 hours or 90 minutes

What do you think is meant by the statement "the digestive system is very different
Kryger [21]
It could possibly refer to “the small intestines absorb most of the nutrients in food, and your circulatory system passes them on to other parts of your body to store or use. Special cells help absorbed nutrients cross intestinal lining into your bloodstream” hope this helps Good luck

Which element has a larger atomic radius than sulfur? chlorine cadmium fluorine oxygen
zhuklara [117]

Answer:

 • Cadmium has larger atomic radius than sulfur.

Explanation:

Down a period, atomic radii decrease from left to right due to the increase in the number of protons and electrons across a period: when a proton is added the pull of the electrons towards the nucleus is larger, so the size of the atom decreases.

Hence, you can compare the elements that belong to a same period and predict that the atom with lower atomic number (number of protons) will haver larger atomic radius. With that:

 • Oxygen and fluorine are in the period 3, being oxygen to the left of fluorine, so oxygen is larger than fluorine.

 • Sulfur and chlorine are in the period 4, being sulfur to the left of chlorine, so sulfur is larger than chlorine.

Now see whan happens down a group. Atomic radius increases from top to bottom within a group due to electron shielding. That permits you to compare the size of the elements in a group:

 • Fluorine and chlorine are in the same group (17), with chlorine directly below fluorine, so the atomic radius of chlorine is larger than the atomic radius of fluorine.

 • Sulfur and oxygen are in the same group (16), with sulfur directlly below oxygen, so sulfur the atomic radius of sulfur is larger than the atocmi radius of oxygen.

So far, you can rank the atomic radius of sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, and oxygen, in increasing order as:

 • O < F < Cl < S, concluding that O, F, and Cl have smaller atomic radius than S.

Cadmiun, Cd, is to the left and below sulfur, so both electron shielding (down a group) and increase of the number of protons (down a period) lead to predict the cadmium has a larger atomic radius than sulfur.

Your general impression suggests that your immediate action should be to: ____.
Lynna [10]

Your general impression suggests that your immediate action should be to call for additional help. The correct option is a.

What is immediate action?

Immediate actions are the actions that are taken without taking any time. These actions are taken when there is no time to think, and you should immediately think about the actions. The emergency condition needs immediate help.

During the time of general impression, one should immediately call for additional help. Additional people will give you suggestions for the problem.

Thus, the correct option is a. call for additional help.
