If excess sulfuric acid reacts with 30 grams of sodium chloride, how many grams of HCl are produced

Consider the Chemical Reaction first:

Reaction: H₂SO₄ + 2 NaCl → 2 HCl + Na₂SO₄

Now, Given mass of NaCl = 30 g
Molar mass of Nacl = 58 g/mol

Now, Number of moles of NaCl = 30/58 = 0.517 mol

Balance the equation, For every 2 molecules of NaCl, 2 molecules of HCl formed, so the number of moles would be same.

Hence, Number of moles of HCl = 0.517 mol

Now, Mass of HCl = Molar mass of HCl * Number of moles
Mass = 36 * 0.517    [ Molar mass of HCl = 36 ]
Mass = 18.62 g

In short, Your Answer would be: 18.62 Grams

Hope this helps!

The expression of the theoretical yield (TY) in function of limiting reagent (LR) of a reaction is as follows: TY = ideal mole r
spin [16.1K]

<u>Answer:</u> The theoretical yield of acetanilide is 6.5 grams.

<u>Explanation:</u>

To calculate the number of moles, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}      .....(1)

  • <u>For aniline:</u>

Given mass of aniline = 4.50\times 10^0=4.50g      (We know that:  10^0=1 )

Molar mass of aniline = 93.13 g/mol

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

\text{Moles of aniline}=\frac{4.50g}{93.13g/mol}=0.048mol

  • <u>For acetic anhydride:</u>

To calculate the mass of acetic anhydride, we use the equation:

\text{Density of substance}=\frac{\text{Mass of substance}}{\text{Volume of substance}}

Volume of acetic anhydride = (1.25\times \text{Mass of aniline})=1.25\times 4.50=5.625mL

Density of acetic anhydride = 1.08 g/mL

Putting values in above equation:

1.08g/mL=\frac{\text{Mass of acetic anhydride}}{5.625mL}\\\\\text{Mass of acetic anhydride}=(1.08g/mL\times 5.625mL)=6.08g

Given mass of acetic anhydride = 6.08 g

Molar mass of acetic anhydride = 102.1 g/mol

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

\text{Moles of acetic anhydride}=\frac{6.08g}{102.1g/mol}=0.06mol

The chemical equation for the reaction of aniline and acetic anhydride follows:

C_6H_5NH_2+CH_3COOCOCH_3\rightarrow C_6H_5NHCOCH_3+CH_3COOH

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of aniline reacts with 1 mole of acetic anhydride

So, 0.048 moles of aniline will react with = \frac{1}{1}\times 0.048=0.048mol of acetic anhydride

As, given amount of acetic anhydride is more than the required amount. So, it is considered as an excess reagent.

Thus, aniline is considered as a limiting reagent because it limits the formation of product.

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of aniline produces 1 mole of acetanilide

So, 0.048 moles of aniline will produce = \frac{1}{1}\times 0.048=0.048mol of acetanilide

Now, calculating the theoretical yield of acetanilide by using equation 1:

Moles of acetanilide = 0.048 moles

Molar mass of acetanilide = 135.17 g/mol

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

0.048mol=\frac{\text{Mass of acetanilide}}{135.17g/mol}\\\\\text{Mass of acetanilide}=(0.048mol\times 135.17g/mol)=6.5g

Hence, the theoretical yield of acetanilide is 6.5 grams.

A mixture of gases is analyzed and found to have the following composition in mol %: CO2 12.0 CO 6.0 CH4 27.3 H2 9.9 N2 44.8 a)
vichka [17]

Answer:

a) CO₂: <em>21,9%; </em>CO: <em>7,0%; </em>CH₄: <em>18,2%; </em>H₂: <em>0,8%; </em>N₂: <em>52,1%</em>

b) 24,09 g/mol

Explanation:

a) It is posible to obtain the composition of the gas mixture in weight% using molecular mass of each compound, thus:

12% CO₂×\frac{44,01g}{1mol} = <em>528,1 g</em>

6% CO×\frac{28,01g}{1mol} = <em>168,1 g</em>

27,3% CH₄×\frac{16,05g}{1mol} = <em>438,2 g</em>

9,9% H₂×\frac{2,02g}{1mol} = <em>20,0 g</em>

44,8% N₂×\frac{28g}{1mol} = <em>1254,4 g</em>

The total mass of the gas mixture is:

528,1g + 168,1g + 438,2g + 20,0g + 1254,4g = <em>2408,8 g</em>

Thus composition of the gas mixture in weight% is:

CO₂: \frac{528,1g}{2408,8g}×100 = <em>21,9%</em>

CO: \frac{168,1g}{2408,8g}×100 = <em>7,0%</em>

CH₄: \frac{438,2g}{2408,8g}×100 = <em>18,2%</em>

H₂: \frac{20,0g}{2408,8g}×100 = <em>0,8%</em>

N₂: \frac{1254,4g}{2408,8g}×100 = <em>52,1%</em>

b) The average molecular weight of the gas mixture is determined with mole % composition, thus:

0,12×44,01g/mol + 0,06×28,01g/mol + 0,273×16,05g/mol + 0,099×2,02g/mol + 0,448×28g/mol = <em>24,09 g/mol</em>

I hope it helps!

An atom that has 13 protons and 15 neutrons is an isotope of the element? How can I count it?
Diano4ka-milaya [45]
It's simple.
the number of protons in an atom never changes. And also, the no of protons is its atomic number.if you look up the periodic table, you will find a number on the top - left corner of each of the boxes. This is the atomic number.No 2 same elements on the periodic table have the same atomic number. So, all you have to do is search for a box that has the number 13 on it.

and by the way ... the element which you're searching for is Aluminium
