Almost. treating an acyl chloride with a grignard reagent tends to form (via two steps) an alcohol. what reagent forms the keton
PIT_PIT [208]
Reaction of Acyl Halides with Grignard reagent results in the formation of Ketones in first step. While in second step reaction of Grignard reagent with Ketones results in the formation of Tertiary Alcohols.

If you want to stop the reaction at Ketone stage then you are required to use another mild reactive organometallic compound. In our case we will use Organocuprates. Organocuprates are also known as Gilman Reagents. These reagents does not add to ketones, aldehydes and esters but they can add to acid halides to produce Ketones.

Explain why lime is added to lakes. Refer to the problem that exists and what lime does to the lakes.
aalyn [17]

Explanation:

Lime is added to lower the acidity of lakes when pH levels go too low.

Acidic environment is harmful to aquatic ecosystems. Acidity causes some minerals, such as phosphorus and calcium, in the water to become unavailable to aquatic organisms like plants and fishes ( This means the water hardness is reduced). The low nutrients cause stress and death in the aquatic environment lowering biodiversity.  Applying lime raises the pH to neutral levels and improves the health of the aquatic life in the lake. This also improves economic activities in the lake like fishing.

The vapor pressure of liquid acetone, CH3COCH3, is 100 mm Hg at 281 K. A 6.06E-2 g sample of liquid CH3COCH3 is placed in a clos
Lynna [10]

Explanation:

According to ideal gas equation, product of pressure and volume equals the product of number of moles, gas constant and temperature.

Mathematically,     PV = nRT

where          P = pressure,               V = volume

                  n = no. of moles,         R = gas constant = 0.0821 atm L/mol

                   T = temperature

Since, it is known that number of moles equal mass divided by molar mass.

Hence, number of moles of given sample of acetone are as follows.

              No. of moles = \frac{mass}{\text{molar mass of acetone}}

                                    =  \frac{6.06 \times 10^{-2}}{58 g/mol}

                                    = 0.104 \times 10^{-2} mole

Therefore, putting the values in ideal gas equation as follows.

                         PV = nRT

P \times 0.36 L = 0.104 \times 10^{-2} \times 0.082 atm L/mol \times 281 K

                           = 0.359 atm

In 1 atm equal to 760 mm Hg. So, convert 0.359 atm into mm Hg as follows.

                  0.359 atm \times \frac{760 mm Hg}{1 atm}

                       = 272.84 mm Hg

Hence, pressure of the ideal gas will be 100 mm Hg + 272.84 mm Hg = 372.84 mm Hg

Thus, we can conclude that the ideal gas pressure in the container if all of the liquid acetone evaporated is 372.84 mm Hg.

Twenty-seven pounds (27 lb) of chlorine gas is used for treating 750,000 gal of water each day. The chlorine used up by the micr
Delicious77 [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is 1.778 milligrams per liter.

Explanation:

Based on the given information, the concentration of chlorine gas given is 27 pounds or 27*453.59 = 12327.93 grams.

The quantity of water given is 750000 gallons or 750000 * 3.754 = 2815500 L

The concentration of chlorine used up by the microorganism is 2.6 mg/L or 0.0026 gm/L.

Thus, for 2815500 L of water, the amount of chlorine used is,

= 2815500 * 0.0026

= 7320.3 grams

The left quantity of chlorine is 12327.93 - 7320.3 = 5007.63 grams

The concentration of residual chlorine is,

= 5007.63 g/2815500 = 0.00177859 or 1.778 mg/L.
