A 1.0-m-tall vertical tube is filled with 20°C water. A tuning fork vibrating at 580 Hz is held just over the top of the tube as

the water is slowly drained from the bottom. At what water heights, measured from the bottom of the tube, will there be a standing wave in the tube above the water? Express your answer numerically. If there is more than one answer, enter your answers in descending order separated by commas.

Answer:

water heights of the tube are 0.851 m , 0.553 m, 0.255 m

Explanation:

given data

frequency = 580 Hz

temperature = 20°C

tube = 1 m

to find out

water heights of the tube

solution

we will apply here formula for length that is

length L = v ( 2n -1 ) / 4f

here v is velocity o sound that is 343.2 m/s

so for n = 1

L = 343.2 ( 2(1) -1 ) / 4(580) = 0.147931 m

for n = 2

L = 343.2 ( 2(2) -1 ) / 4(580) = 0.443793 m

for n = 3

L = 343.2 ( 2(3) -1 ) / 4(580) = 0.739655 m

for n = 4

L = 343.2 ( 2(4) -1 ) / 4(580) = 1.035517 m is greater than 1

and so here height is measured less than 1 m

so water heights of the tube are 1 m - 0.147931 m , 1 m - 0.443793 m, 1 m - 0.739655 m

so water heights of the tube are 0.851 m , 0.553 m, 0.255 m

Changing subscripts is one of the steps of balancing a chemical equation
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

No, Changing subscripts is not the step of balancing a chemical equation

Explanation:

In balancing a chemical equation you have to keep one thing in mind that the no of atoms and elements on both sides such as reactant (before reaction) and product( after a reaction) must be equal. Coefficients are added to equal the no of atoms and elements, but we will not change the subscript.

A 4000-kg car bumps into a stationary 6000kg truck. The Velocity of the car before the collision was +4m/s and -1m/s after the c
Goryan [66]

Answer:

The velocity of the truck is 3.33 m/s

Explanation:

Law Of Conservation Of Linear Momentum

The total momentum of a system of bodies is conserved unless an external force is applied to it. The formula for the momentum of a body with mass m and velocity v is

P=mv.

If we have a system of bodies, then the total momentum is the sum of the individual momentums:

P=m_1v_1+m_2v_2+...+m_nv_n

If some collision occurs, the velocities change to v' and the final momentum is:

P'=m_1v'_1+m_2v'_2+...+m_nv'_n

In a system of two masses:

m_1v_1+m_2v_2=m_1v'_1+m_2v'_2

There are two objects: The m1=4000 Kg car and the m2=6000 Kg truck. The car was moving initially at v1=4 m/s and the truck was at rest v2=0. After the collision, the car moves at v1'=-1 m/s. We need to find the velocity of the truck v2'. Solving for v2':

\displaystyle v'_2=\frac{m_1v_1+m_2v_2-m_1v'_1}{m_2}

Substituting:

\displaystyle v'_2=\frac{4000*4+6000*0-4000(-1)}{6000}

\displaystyle v'_2=\frac{16000+4000}{6000}

\displaystyle v'_2=3.33

The velocity of the truck is 3.33 m/s

If you push an 5 N object 2 m and then push a 10 N object 2 m. Which is TRUE?
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

Explanation:

You don't do the same amount of work. The work formula is F*d = W

W = work

F = force

d = the distance moved.

So you do more work when you move the 10N object because the Force (F) has doubled.

A physics professor that doesn’t get easily embarrassed stands at the center of a frictionless turntable with arms outstretched
mr Goodwill [35]
Apply conservation of angular momentum:
L = Iw = const.
L = angular momentum, I = moment of inertia, w = angular velocity, L must stay constant.

L must stay the same before and after the professor brings the dumbbells closer to himself.

His initial angular velocity is 2π radians divided by 2.0 seconds, or π rad/s. His initial moment of inertia is 3.0kg•m^2

His final moment of inertia is 2.2kg•m^2.

Calculate the initial angular velocity:
L = 3.0π

Final angular velocity:
L = 2.2w

Set the initial and final angular momentum equal to each other and solve for the final angular velocity w:

3.0π = 2.2w
w = 1.4π rad/s

The rotational energy is given by:
KE = 0.5Iw^2

Initial rotational energy:
KE = 0.5(3.0)(π)^2 = 14.8J

Final rotational energy:
KE = 0.5(2.2)(1.4)^2 = 21.3J

There is an increase in rotational energy. Where did this energy come from? It came from changing the moment of inertia. The professor had to exert a radially inward force to pull in the dumbbells, doing work that increases his rotational energy.
