Answer:Ionic bonds form due to the transfer of an electron from one atom to another. Covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between two atoms. Metallic bonds are formed by the attraction between metal ions and delocalized, or "free" electrons. Created by Sal Khan.

Answer:

Metallic bonding

Explanation:

Metals have low ionization energies. Therefore, their valence electrons are easily delocalized (attracted to the neighbouring metal atoms). These delocalized electrons are then not associated with a specific metal atom. Since the electrons are “free”, the metal atoms have become cations, and the electrons are free to move throughout the whole crystalline structure.

We say that a metal consists of an array of cations immersed in a sea of electrons .

The electrons act as a “glue” holding the cations together.

Metallic bonds are the attractive forces between the metal cations and the sea of electrons.

In an NaK alloy, for example, the Na and K atoms contribute their valence electrons to the "sea". The atoms aren’t bonded to each other, but they are held in place by the metallic bonding.

21. Which 2 body systems work together to
produce and transport blood cells?
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

skeletal and circulatory

Explanation:

The skeletal system works with the muscular system to help the body move. Marrow, which is soft, fatty tissue that produces red blood cells, many white blood cells, and other immune system cells, is found inside bones.

The circulatory system consists of the heart and blood vessels which emcompasses all of the arteries, veins, and capillaries. The arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart, and veins return deoxygenated blood back to the heart. The main purpose of the circulatory system is to transport blood, oxygen, nutrients and hormones to and from different cells and tissues throughout the body. This system works hand-in-hand with the respiratory system to facilitate the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide within the blood per the alveoli in the lungs. It is also very important for the the removal of wastes and poisons within the body via the digestive and urinary systems.

Explain why energy sources do not have 100% efficiency. Why do you think some have lower efficiencies?
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

Energy sources do not have 100% efficiency because the processes of energy conversion to usable forms involves energy losses.

Some have lower efficiencies due to; energy losses in form of heat during conversion, poor technology applied during conversion of energy and lack of desire equipment to use in the energy conversion system.

Explanation:

The desired form of energy for use is derived from conversion of energy from the source using an energy converter into another form which is usable. The efficiency of the energy converter is calculated as;

л = output energy/input energy

The efficiency of energy is limited to the cost of equipment required for conversion from energy source by the energy converter to a form which is usable. Additionally, because energy sources are scarce, the technology to use in energy conversion is a factor affecting energy efficiency in that high efficiency will require advanced technology with better equipment leading higher costs of that energy form. when heat losses are involved during energy conversion, efficiency lowers, thus its better if such losses are used as energy input in another system.

lara [203]

Answer:

Biphenyl

Explanation:

The reaction of bromo benzene with magnesium-ether solution yields a Grignard reagent.

The byproduct of this reaction is biphenyl. It is formed when two unreacted bromobenzene molecules are coupled together.

Hence, It is advised that the bromobenzene solution be added slowly to the magnesium-ether solution so that it isn't present in a high concentration, thus reducing the amount of biphenyl by-product formed.
