Power = (1000 kilo-Watt-hr/mo) x (1000/kilo) x (mo/30day) x (day/24 hr)

Power = (1000 x 1000 / 30 x 24) (kilo-watt-hr-mo-day/mo-kilo-day-hr)

Power = (1,000,000/720) watt

(voltage x current) = (1,000,000/720) watts

120v x current = (1,000,000/720) watts

Current =  1,000,000 / (720 x 120) Amperes

<em>Current = 11.57 Amperes</em>

Consider light of wavelengths 400 nm (UV), 550 nm (green, visible), and 900 nm (infrared). What is the energy associated with a
allsm [11]

Answer:

Energy of UV light =4.95\times 10^{-19}j

Energy of green light =3.6\times 10^{-19}j

Energy of infrared light =2.2\times 10^{-19}j

Explanation:

We have given the wavelength of UV light = 400 nm =400\times 10^{-9}m , wavelength of green light = 550 nm and wavelength of infrared = 900 nm

Speed of light c=3\times 10^8m/sec

Plank's constant h=6.6\times 10^{-34}

Energy of the signal is given by E=h\nu =h\frac{c}{\lambda }

So energy of UV light E=\frac{6.6\times 10^{-34}\times3\times 10^8}{400\times 10^{-9}}=4.95\times 10^{-19}j

Energy of green light E=\frac{6.6\times 10^{-34}\times3\times 10^8}{550\times 10^{-9}}=3.6\times 10^{-19}j

Energy of infrared light E=\frac{6.6\times 10^{-34}\times3\times 10^8}{900\times 10^{-9}}=2.2\times 10^{-19}j

Determine the electrical and gravitational forces that two protons in the nucleus of a helium atom exert on each other when sepa
jonny [76]

Answer:

Fe = 25.67 N

Fg = 2.0734 x 10^-35 N

Explanation:

r = 3 x 10^-15 m

G = 6.67 x 10^-11 Nm^2/kg^2

Mp = 1.6726231 x 10^-27 kg

Qp = 1.6021 x 10^-19 C

K = 9 x 10^9 Nm^2/C^2

The formula for the electrical force between the two protons is given by

F = K \frac{Q_{p}\times Q_{p}}{r^{2}}

F = \frac{9\times 10^{9}\times 1.6021\times 10^{-19}\times 1.6021\times 10^{-19}}{3\times 10^{-15}\times 3\times 10^{-15}}

Fe = 25.67 N

The formula for the gravitational force between the two protons is given by

F = G \frac{M_{p}\times M_{p}}{r^{2}}

F = \frac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\times 1.6726231\times 10^{-27}\times 1.6726231\times 10^{-27}}{3\times 10^{-15}\times 3\times 10^{-15}}

Fg = 2.0734 x 10^-35 N

In this week's experiment, you send an unpolarized light beam through two polarizers in series. You orient the first polarizer s
g100num [7]

Answer:

Part a)

\theta = 90 degree

so the polarization axis of two polarizers must be at 90 degree

Part b)

\theta = 20 + 14.3 = 34.3 degree

(vi) set the second polarizer so that its angular scale reads 34.3 degrees.

Explanation:

Part 1)

As per law of Malus we know that the intensity of light coming from the second polarizer and the intensity of the light from first polarizer is related as

I = I_o cos^2\theta

now we know that we rotate the second polarizer till the intensity of the light becomes zero

so we will have

I = 0

so we will have

\theta = 90 degree

so the polarization axis of two polarizers must be at 90 degree

Part b)

when two axis are inclined at 90 degree then scale reads 104.3 degree

so here the scale exceeds the reading by

\Delta \theta = 104.3 - 90 = 14.3

so in order to make them inclined at 20 degree we will have

\theta = 20 + 14.3 = 34.3 degree

(vi) set the second polarizer so that its angular scale reads 34.3 degrees.
