If a flea can jump straight up to a height of 0.410 m , what is its initial speed as it leaves the ground?
aivan3 [116]

Initial velocity = \(v_0\)

acceleration in the downward direction = -9.8 \(\frac {m}{s^2}\)

Final velocity at the highest point = 0

Maximum height reached = 0.410 m

Now, Using third equation of motion:

\(v^2 = {v_0}^{2} + 2aH

\(0^2 = {v_0}^{2} - 2 \times 9.8 \times 0.410

\({v_0}^{2} = 2 \times 9.8 \times 0.410\)

\(v_0 = 2.834 \frac {m}{s}\)

Speed with which the flea jumps = \(2.834 \frac {m}{s}\)

How do you work out instantaneous speed?
Alik [6]
To calculate instantaneous speed, we need to divide part of the total distance traveled by time. However, we don't want to use the distance of the entire trip, because that will give us average speed.

Does gravity hold things together?
mariarad [96]
<span>Gravity is an attractive force. All masses exert gravity, so matter pull toward each other. However, it is only significant when the masses are large, like that of Earth.  Exactly what causes gravity still remains a mystery. Since all the other three fundamental forces (strong, weak, and electromagnetic) are caused by particles called bosons, some scientists think that gravity is caused by particles called the graviton. However, such a particle has not yet been observed, and its existence has not been proven yet.
Also, gravity does not hold EVERYTHING together, as another person has already mentioned. Static electricity holds your socks together after they come out of the dryer, not gravity. Also, gravity is too weak to hold together, say, the nucleus of atoms, or even atoms of molecules together.</span>

A boy weighing 50 kg is running at 2m/s. What is its kinetic energy? *<br> 10 points
pentagon [3]
The answer is 100.
The formula is KE = 1/2mv^2
Then you plug in 50 to the m
And 2 to the v . That’s how I got 100 .
Hope this helps
