Orbiting satellites and the orbit of the moon around the Earth have in common the Newton’s laws and the law of gravitation. When a satellite orbits the Earth its speed is balanced by the pull of Earth's gravity. This balance prevents the satellite either to fall back to Earth or to fly in a straight line off into space. Since the moon is a satellite to the Earth, then it is constantly falling <em>around</em> the earth. So the same happens to an artificial intelligence because it is governed by the same laws.
