Answer: \dfrac{1}{3} km per minute

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The winner of the New York marathon ran the 8 kilometer event in 24 mins.

Then, the  runners unit rate is given by :_

\text{Runner's unit rate}=\dfrac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Time}}

i.e. \text{Runner's unit rate}=\dfrac{8}{24}=\dfrac{1}{3}

Hence, the runners unit rate = \dfrac{1}{3} km per minute.

A unit rate is when a rate is expressed by having 1 as the second number...

So for your problem you would want to find out how many minutes it took the runner to run 1 kilometer

To obtain the unit rate for your problem you will need to divide the numerator (24) by the denominator (8)

when you divide 24 by 8 the final answer is 3

so the unit rate is.....

the runner will run 1 kilometer in 3 minutes

also expressed as 1:3

i'm guessing this is what you wanted?
I hope this helps!

Rewrite the expression using the properties of exponents.
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

  x^2\sqrt[3]{x}

Step-by-step explanation:

The relevant properties of exponents are ...

  (a^b)(a^c) = a^(b+c)

  (a^b)^c = a^(bc)

  1/a^b = a^-b

__

Your expression simplifies to ...

  \displaystyle x^{\frac{6}{3}+\frac{6}{9}-\frac{1}{3}}=x^{\frac{7}{3}}\\\\=x^2\sqrt[3]{x}

Find N(4) for the function, N(u) = 4.
lukranit [14]

Answer:

N(4) = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

The given function is N(u) = 4, where N is the function and u is the independent variable.

Now, the value of the function N(u) is a constant and independent of u variable.

Therefore, for each and every value of the variable u the N(u) will be 4 and this is a constant function.

Hence, N(4) = 4 ( Answer )

\sqrt[{ m}]{a^{ n}}\implies a^{\frac{{ n}}{{ m}}}\\\\

thus\implies x^{\frac{2}{5}}\implies \sqrt[5]{x^2}
\\\\\\
and\implies (4ab)^{\frac{3}{5}}\implies \sqrt[5]{(4ab)^3}\implies \sqrt[5]{4^3a^3b^3}

now\\\\ 4\to 2^2\qquad and\qquad 4^3\to (2^2)^3\to 2^{2\cdot 3}\to 2^6\to 2^{5+1}\to 2^52^1\\\\

\bf \sqrt[5]{4^3a^3b^3}\implies \sqrt[5]{2^52^1a^3b^3}\implies 2\sqrt[5]{2a^3b^3}
