                  K   +    F₂       →         KF

This equation is not balanced according to the law of conservation of mass.

To balance the equation;

            Put coefficients a, b and c behind the compounds

                         aK   +    bF₂       →         cKF

  Conservation of mass:

                for K ; a = c

                      F;  2b = c

      let a = 1

            c = 1

            b= \frac{1}{2}

Multiply the coefficients by 2 to reduce to simplest terms;

          a = 2 , b = 1 and c = 2

                           2K   +    F₂       →         2KF
