Answer:

The mass of steam produced would be 21.95 g

Explanation:

The heat that the iron block would lose will be gained by water, this is expressed thus;

Heat loss by  Iron = Heat gain by water;

Given that;

mass of block = 400 g / 1000 = 0.4 kg

Initial temp of iron = 400°C

mass of water = 60 g / 1000 = 0.06 kg

heat vaporization of water L (constant) = 22.6 x J/Kg

average specific heat of the iron over this temperature range is = 560 J/Kg K.

Specific heat capacity of water = 4186 J / kg K

heat lost by iron = heat gain by water .......................1

ΔT is the change in temperature.

m is the mass of steam during vaporization

Heat loss by iron = x x ΔT

                             = 0.4 x 560 x (400-100)

                             = 67200 J

Heat gained by water =  M_{w}C_{w} (ΔT ) + m  L

expression 1 would be;

67200 = 17581.2 + m x (22.6 x  )

Making m the subject formula we have;

m  = ( 67200-17581.2 ) / ( 22.6 x  )

m  = 0.0219 kg x 1000 = 21.95 g

Therefore the amount of steam produced would be 21.95 g

Answer:

Amount of steam produced = m' = 16.1 grams

Explanation:

Mass of the block of iron = M = 400 g

Initial temperature of iron = t_{i} = 400 °C

Mass of water = m = 60 g

Initial temperature of water = t_{w} = 30 °C

Specific heat of iron = 450 J/kgC

Specific heat of water = 4186 J/kg C

Latent heat of vaporization of water = L = 22.6 \times10^{5 } J/kg

Heat lost by iron = Heat gained by water + Heat of vaporization.

(400)(450)(400 - 100)= (60)(4186)(100 - 30) + m' (22.6 \times 10^{5 }

⇒ 5.4 × 10⁷ = 1.7581 × 10⁷ + 22.6 × 10⁵ m'

⇒ m'=mass of steam produced =3.642 × 10⁷ / 22.6 × 10⁵ kg

                                                    = 16.1 grams

A brass alloy is known to have a yield strength of 240 MPa (35,000 psi), a tensile strength of 310 MPa (45,000 psi), and an elas
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

Here Strain due to testing is greater than the strain due to yielding that is why computation of load is not possible.

Explanation:

Given that

Yield strength ,Sy= 240 MPa

Tensile strength = 310 MPa

Elastic modulus ,E= 110 GPa

L=380 mm

ΔL = 1.9 mm

Lets find strain:

Case 1 :

Strain due to elongation (testing)

ε = ΔL/L

ε = 1.9/380

ε = 0.005

Case 2 :

Strain due to yielding

\varepsilon' =\dfrac{S_y}{E}

\varepsilon' =\dfrac{240}{110\times 1000}

ε '=0.0021

Here Strain due to testing is greater than the strain due to yielding that is why computation of load is not possible.

For computation of load strain due to testing should be less than the strain due to yielding.

The correct answer is 1 and 4.

Burning of fossil fuels releases harmful gases to the atmosphere which leads to climate change. Burning of hydrogen gas releases water which has no negative effect on climate.

Burning of both fossil fuels and hydrogen takes place inside expensive fuel cells.

Fossil fuels are widely available and easy to locate whereas hydrogen is available in the combined form with other elements. Hydrogen are not found in pure form on earth.

Fossil fuels are non-renewable source of energy which means they cannot be replaced in short time.

Jason walks 20 m East, turns around and 20 m West, Finally, he walks 10 rn North. This takes 20 s. what is Jason's velocity
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

0.5 m/s north

Explanation:

Take east to be +x, west to be -x, north to be +y, and south to be -y.

His displacement in the x direction is:

x = 20 m − 20 m = 0 m

His displacement in the y direction is:

y = 10 m

His total displacement is therefore 10 m north.

His velocity is equal to displacement divided by time.

v = 10 m north / 20 s

v = 0.5 m/s north

If 1.8 amp flows through a 40 ohm resistor, the voltage across the resistor is :
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

72 volts.

Explanation:

To solve this, we have to use the Ohm's law.

The ohm's law tells us that the voltage drop of a resistor is directly proportional to the current applied to the conductor.

V=I*R

in this case the current is 1.8 amps and the resistor is 40 ohm

V=1.8*40

so

V=72 volts.
