Given data:

mass of the box (m) = 12 kg,

                            W = m.g

                                = 12 kg × 9.8 m/s²

                                 = 117.6 N

coefficient of static friction (μ) = 0.42,

determine the minimum force needed to set the box in motion(F) = ?

Important Point: The minimum force required to move a body is proportional to the weight of the body. Please find the attached figure.

                              F ∝ W

                              F = μ. W Newtons

                              μ = It is the constant proportionality also known as coefficient of static friction.

                  The normal reaction of the body R = W

                  Therefore,

                               F = μ . R Newtons

                   Where,

                              F = Minimum force required to move a body, N

                               F = 0.42 × 117.6

                                  = 49.39 N

The minimum force is needed to move a body on flat floor is 49 N

As we know that friction force on box is given by

F_s = \mu_s N

here we know that

N = mg

here we have

m = 12 kg

\mu_s = 0.42

so now we have

N = 12(9.8) = 117.6 N

now we will have

F_s = 0.42(12)(9.8)

F_s = 49.4 N

so it required minimum 49 N(approx) force to move the block

In which situation is maximum work considered to be done by a force?
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

A) When the angle between the Force (F) and Displacement (x) is 0°, because, Work done (W) is directly proportional to the Cosine of the Angle between the Force applied and the resultant displacement of the subject.

W = F•x cos ∅

If ∅ = 0°,

W = F•x ===> Maximum Work Done.

If ∅ = 45°,

W = F•x/√2

If ∅ = 90°,

W = 0

If ∅ = 180°,

W = –F•x ===> Minimum Work Done.

When the Glen Canyon hydroelectric power plant in Arizona is running at capacity, 690 m3 of water flows through the dam each sec
bixtya [17]

Answer:

1340.2MW

Explanation:

Hi!

To solve this problem follow the steps below!

1 finds the maximum maximum power, using the hydraulic power equation which is the product of the flow rate by height by the specific weight of fluid

W=αhQ

α=specific weight for water =9.81KN/m^3

h=height=220m

Q=flow=690m^3/s

W=(690)(220)(9.81)=1489158Kw=1489.16MW

2. Taking into account that the generator has a 90% efficiency, Find the real power by multiplying the ideal power by the efficiency of the electric generator

Wr=(0.9)(1489.16MW)=1340.2MW

the maximum possible electric power output is 1340.2MW

The average force of a baseball is 18.9 N . It’s mass is 0.145kg fine the acceleration in m/s^2
Artyom0805 [142]

Answer:

the acceleration is 130.3m/s²

Explanation:

Given data

Force F= 18.9N

Mass of ball m= 0.145kg

Acceleration a=?

Applying the Newton's second law of motion

"The rate of change of momentum of a body is proportional to the external force".

F=ma

a= F/m

a= 18.9/0.142

a= 130.3m/s²
