Given data:

mass of the box (m) = 12 kg,

                            W = m.g

                                = 12 kg × 9.8 m/s²

                                 = 117.6 N

coefficient of static friction (μ) = 0.42,

determine the minimum force needed to set the box in motion(F) = ?

Important Point: The minimum force required to move a body is proportional to the weight of the body. Please find the attached figure.

                              F ∝ W

                              F = μ. W Newtons

                              μ = It is the constant proportionality also known as coefficient of static friction.

                  The normal reaction of the body R = W

                  Therefore,

                               F = μ . R Newtons

                   Where,

                              F = Minimum force required to move a body, N

                               F = 0.42 × 117.6

                                  = 49.39 N

<em>The minimum force is needed to move a body on flat floor is 49 N</em>

As we know that friction force on box is given by

F_s = \mu_s N

here we know that

N = mg

here we have

m = 12 kg

\mu_s = 0.42

so now we have

N = 12(9.8) = 117.6 N

now we will have

F_s = 0.42(12)(9.8)

F_s = 49.4 N

so it required minimum 49 N(approx) force to move the block

A vertical spring with stiffness k originally is at rest with no mass attached. Then, a mass M is attached, and the spring rocks
Alina [70]

Answer:

The position of the spring in terms of g, m & k is x = \frac{m g}{k}

Explanation:

Stiffness of the spring = k

Mass = m

When a mass m is attached with the spring then spring stretched. in that case the force exerted on the spring is equal to weight of the mass attached.

⇒ Force exerted on the spring F = k x

⇒ m g = k x

⇒ x = \frac{m g}{k}

This is the position of the spring in terms of g, m & k.

You plan to throw stones by using a sling that you whirl over your head. You will whirl the stone in a horizontal circle with a
MariettaO [177]

Answer:

330.635 meter per second square

Explanation:

Given

Height ,h = 2.50 m

Radius, r = 1.50 m

Distance travelled,  d = 15.9 m

Since, the stone is released and it falls towards the sky, its initial velocity is zero

As per equation

h = ut + \frac{1}{2} gt^2\\, we will evaluate "t"

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get

2.5 = 0 *t + 0.5 * 9.81 * t^2\\t^2 = \frac{2.5}{0.5*9.81}\\ t = \sqrt{0.5096} \\t = 0.714

Velocity

= \frac{d}{t} \\= \frac{15.9}{0.714}\\= 22.27

centripetal acceleration

= \frac{v^2}{r} \\= \frac{22.27^2}{1.5}\\ = 330.635\\

Which of the following is moving faster?
solong [7]
The car, because logically, a car is faster and if you do the math, 300 meters per minutes is about 17 kilometers per hour, and that is lower than the car’s 36 kilometers per hour. I would show you my work but im tired man, please mark me brainliest

A spaceship is moving past Earth at 0.99c. The spaceship fires two lasers. Laser A is in the same direction it is traveling, and
REY [17]

Answer:

Vx' = (Vx - u) / (1 - Vx *u / c^2)      velocity transformation formula

In both cases we wish to measure the velocity in the frame of the earth which is moving at speed u = -.99 c relative to the spaceship

VA' = (c + .99c) / (1 - (-.99 c * c) / c^2) = 1.99c / 1.99 = c

VB' = (-c + .99c) / (1 - (-c * -.99c) / c^2) = .01 c / .01 = c

In both cases an observer on earth will observe the light traveling at speed c.
