Answer:

The height of the cliff is approximately 127.31 meters

Explanation:

The given parameters are;

The upward speed of the ball = 30 m/s

The time after the ball is thrown before it lands = 9 s

We have;

The time to maximum height;

v = u - g·t

Where;

v = The velocity at maximum height = 0 m/s

u = Initial velocity = 30 m/s

g = The acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

∴ 0 = 30 - 9.81 × t

t = 30/9.81 = 3.06 s

The maximum height can be obtained from;

v² = u² - 2·g·s

v = 0 m/s

u² = 2·g·s

30² = 2 × 9.81 × s

s = 30²/(2×9.81) = 45.87 m

The time from maximum height to landing = 9 - 3.06 = 5.942 s

The height to landing

s = u·t + 1/2·g·t².

Here, u = 0 m/s

s = 0×5.942 + 1/2×9.81×5.942² = 173.1766 m

s = 173.1766 m.

The height of the cliff = 173.1766 m. - 45.87 m. ≈ 127.31 m.

What is the time lapse between seeing a lightning strike and hearing the thunder if the lightning flash is 47 km away? The speed
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

141.14098 secs

Explanation:

Time taken to see the lightning flash can be gotten from:

Velocity = distance/time

Time = distance/velocity

Time = (47 * 1000)/(3 * 10^8)

Time = 0.0001567 secs

Time taken to hear the thunder can be gotten from:

Velocity = distance/time

Time = distance/velocity

Time = (47 * 1000)/(333)

Time = 141.14114 secs

The time lapse between the lightning flash and the thunder will be:

141.14114 - 0. 0001567

= 141.14098 secs

A cat, walking along the window ledge of a new york apartment, knocks off a flower pot, which falls to the street 280 feet below
Harlamova29_29 [7]
H = 280 ft, the height of the flower pot.
g = 32 ft/s²

Neglect air resistance.
Note that 1 ft/s = 15/22 mi/h

The initial vertical velocity is zero.
Let v =  the velocity with which the flower pot hits the ground.
Then
v² = 2gh
    = 2*(32 ft/s²)*(280 ft)
    = 17920 (ft/s)²
v = 133.866 ft/s

Also,
v = (133.866 ft/s)*(15/22 (mi/h)/(ft/s)) = 91.272 mi/h

Answer:  133.9 ft/s or 91.3 mi/h

The first and second coils have the same length, and the third and fourth coils have the same length. They differ only in the cr
tatyana61 [14]

Answer:

The ratio of the resistances of second coil to the first coil is the ratio of square of radius of the first coil to the square of radius of  second coil.

And

The ratio of the resistances of fourth coil to the third coil is the ratio of square of radius of the third coil to the square of radius of  fourth coil.

Explanation:

The resistance of the coil is directly proportional to the length of the coil and inversely proportional to the area of coil and hence inversely proportional to the square of radius of the coil.

So, the ratio of the resistances of second coil to the first coil is the ratio of square of radius of the first coil to the square of radius of  second coil.

And

The ratio of the resistances of fourth coil to the third coil is the ratio of square of radius of the third coil to the square of radius of  fourth coil.
